Weird question!
You know the silicone ice trays, do you reckon you could fill with water half way, then freeze, THEN pour chocolate in so that's it's easier to get out?? Would that work? I'm just thinking some of the shapes are a bit fiddly and I just want thinner shapes and not chunky onesHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. All these ideas are really great, and whilst browsing in Tesco last night I purchased a heart shaped silicone one.
I have quickly looked throught the thread, again, but don't seem to see the answer,
We have a very large block of Cadburys Dairy Milk from xmas, is it ok to melt this down and use it or do I need to buy cooking chocolate.
Sorry if this has already been answered and if it sound a bit silly, but hope someone can help me out.
Thanks again for all your inspiration

Dairy Milk will be fine. Much nicer than yucky cooking chocolate.Weird question!

I made heart shaped ones from ice trays. They are really easy to get out when totally set. I wouldnt worry about putting water in first. Just fill the tray as deep as you want it and it should be fine, not to thin mind or it might break when popping out.

Suppose it depends on what size the tray is as to whether you have enough choccie or not. For the maltesers I would prob just cut them in half or throw them in as they are. I would melt the chocolate first and then pour it into the tray and then pop the maltesers on top.

If they had them they should have been next to all of the valentine gifts.
If you don't have one I could try and get one and post it to you if you like?
I eventually got one in a Tesco Extra for 99p and some love heart cookie cutters, but before that I tried the bigger Asda and all the MSE's got their first  Tried Ikea Glasgow again loads of jigsaws and a couple of triangles and bottles. None in Sainsburys either, maybe the store buyers think we are unromantic in the frozen north :rotfl:.
