My friend received some chilli chocolates for his birthday, in a kind of chocolate russian roulette type thing with normal chocolates....if you got the chilli one you lost.

By the look of them, it just had chilli flakes mixed into melted chocolate and then set in moulds.

Wouldn't add the oil... think that could be disasterous to the texture of the choc... Maybe taking raw strong chili's and putting them in the chocolate in large pieces and leaving themin whilst you melt the chocolate then taking them out would give off enough "heat"?

Right, got the heart shaped silicon ice trays. And got a Winnie the Pooh one and Piglet one, from Wilkos today. :j

    Couple of questions.

After melting the choccie, when I am pouring it in the moulds, I was going to sprinkle some crushed almonds in the middle of them before setting. Will this work?

How do I make them all shiny after they have set?

Hi, I made my chocolate hearts today and I put half the mixture in the mould and then a piece of Thorntons banana toffee and then filled up with chocolate, remember to tap the bottom repeatedly to release air bubbles.
As another person mentioned, they don't seem as hard as original chocolate and as I wrapped mine in foil then changed my mind, put them in a cellophone bag on their own then changed my mind, and eventually placed them in a old Ferrero Rocher box, they are now looking somewhat worse for wear. Someone else said that if you wipe the mould with cotton wool before pouring the chocolate it makes the chocolates shiny - worth a try.
    HTH FiFi :)

Thank you Fifi. I definitely want to put something in the middle, just to add a bit of
    interest. :)

    Another question.

I am assuming it is way too tricky to pour the choccie from the bowl into the moulds. Do you pour the choccie into an icing type bag then?

I just used a large teaspoon and spooned it into the mould and then tried running a flat edge over the mould, didn't work too well (saw this @ Cadbury World, they made it look easy - Ha). Wiped spillage with my finger - yum!

I just poured from the bowl direct into the moulds with my love heart ones.

It was a bit messy first time around but practise makes perfect biggrin.gif

I'm presuming we are going to get pics Lou? tongue.gif
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
