  • really yes you do
do you know anyone who makes jam? chances are they will have one

i have a non contact thermometre as i use it to make jam, tablet, and i make soap, so i dont want the same utensils used for each
i just point it at whatever and it gives me a reading

you can get a jam/sweetie one in lakeland for under £7
but if its just for this its a bit hmmmmmm
  • I got my thermometre from ebay for 80p plus £2 p&p

I have looked on ebay for one but can not find a tempering chocolate therometre :-(

Did you spell it right? This one will do 'confectionary' so I'd imagine it will be ok for chocolate (though I don't really know, as all I've ever done is melt it and then work with it!!).

or there's this one, which is more expensive but is specifically for tempering chocolate:

Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

These are fab, I was wondering roughly how long they could be kept for.I'm having a practise and making a Halloween one at the moment.

I hope nobody minds me resurrecting this thread, but I thought of it after seeing a market stall with lots of different chocolate slabs and fudge slabs this afternoon - there was an absolutely gorgeous looking one with white chocolate and broken up Oreo cookies and white marshmallow chunks, and a milk chocolate one with white chocolate marbled through. My mouth has been watering all afternoon since I saw them! I'd love to make some for my friends and family for xmas, but I'd only be gutted that they wouldnt be giving me anything similar back :rotfl:
