I have asked a friend in the telecoms industry if they can get me the name of the company who owns that virtual 0161 number then get it shut down

I have been getting a few messages on what to do. This is getting ridiculous, people are getting scared of this. Good thing this was down. I was in touch with a hacker on the dark web. He took the website down as a trial yesterday but asked for £600 for his details. I could not pay. Glad the website is down.

Got a Reply from Steve from the BPA. EVERYONE DO NOT PAY.

Thanks for your note it's definitely a scam.
Follow the advice on the Forum, and you will be fine.
If you get any thing else through, please share with me.
    Stay safe
    Steve

Hi do you know if these are all a scam?? I received basically the exact same letter as you but for £605 the only thing that has me questioning is that I did have a unpaid parking fine from 2-3 months ago.
You did not get a fine, just a flimsy old invoice

3 months ago is not enough time to result in what these jokers are doing

Firstly, there is an appeal to the parking company, that normally fails, then there is a second appeal service, then if that fails, known idiot debt collectors will send you toliet paper and when they fail, one of the daft legals will send a letter of claim giving 30 days and then maybe issue a court claim and then it's allocated to your local court for a hearing maybe 2-3 months away.

As you have a ticket and as long it's from a private parking company, not council, we can help but not on this thread, you must start your own thread

You are being scammed. You must now do a checklist on whom you gave your details to over the last few months which means anything online. Sooner or later we will have a match
Okay thank you for your help and advice I also received this text message today from them.

Report it to Action Fraud and CIVEA and try to work out where online you have fairly recently input all this data:

    - name
    - address
    - phone number
    - car VRM

Because the victims if this scam are in various parts of the Country, it seems almost certain this all stems from online data fraudulently used.

Not an MOT centre or garage unless it's a national chain you all have in common?

You might want to pm the other victims and compare notes to try to work it out.

I would also report this scam to the  Police because they are impersonating bailiffs and threatening to come round and seize goods inside and outside your home.  That's a criminal offence.

DO NOT BE TOLD BY THE POLICE OR ACTION FRAUD THAT THIS IS A REAL BAILIFF.

IT ABSOLUTELY ISN'T AND NOR WAS IT A PARKING FIRM WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED OUT A FEW WEEKS BACK (see the other thread).

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Is Alexis Conran currently covering the Jeremy Vine show on Channel 5?

We heard he would be discussing scams and taking calls and it's on every day isn't it?

Wouldn't it be good if several of you victims told him about this scam to warn people?

Show your texts and letters attached to your contact email and explain this is NOT a 'real' parking charge situation, it is definitely an evolving fraud. We can say that the BPA's Steve Clark has confirmed this is a scam and it's been reported to Action Fraud and CIVEA too but Action Fraud are proving fairly useless and assumed the letter is real.

Also how about several of you tweeting or emailing Martin Lewis and showing him the fraudulent info coming through to people impersonating bailiffs?

Also how about contacting This is Money and other National rags? You need to be clear that this IS a fraud and not a real parking case or real bailiff. It's data gleaned online and not from the DVLA.

The BPA is aware and confirmed this is a scam.

Finally, what about alerting the MSE Forum team in case they want to include a warning in their weekly email, pointing to the 2 threads on this scam?

My gut feeling is that this is a rogue parking company be it a BPA or IPC member ?

    I'd bet it's not.
    ...
Just some scammer who has spotted a way to get car and name/address and phone number data and has done a bit of research and copied Horizon's website and then copied a PCN and now, a bailiff letter.

This is an online data scam and the common denominator seems to be a Trade/food delivery Car Insurance website.

I suspect it's a rogue employee of an insurance firm...

     I disagree in a fashion

This is someone with some connection to the parking industry given certain wording on emails etc that are to detailed to be someone doing this on the hoof

This is to well planned for it not to be someone with at least some working knowledge of the parking world.

The key issue here is HOW did the scammer obtain both vehicle registration numbers AND telephone numbers of the victims?

That must link back to either insurance quotes or parking bookings - where else would you otherwise give both those pieces of personal information?

Either way this looks like a huge data breach and remember what happened to BA about that a few years ago

Wonder if all the victims recently booked private Airport parking which can have dodgy operators?

    Yup, that's possible.

well i think we can discount the insurance firm Zego since some of the victims would not have used that service

@Coupon-mad again not sure i agree , since the people involved have a very wide geographic spread in the UK which would make using the same airport parking firm unlikely

As i now have time i am going to go the Burton On Trent Address on Friday and see what i can suss out.

But the data has been leaked including the reg numbers. Need to find out the foundations of this scam so we can rip out the root. if you know what I mean.
