Would you not consider the following being as summer time usage is so low.

Accept the fix v18 today(before it is potentially withdrawn), wait for the announcement on 26th August by Ofgem (19 days time) and then backout with no exit fees back to Flex or stay knowing the savings. Just something to consider

That makes sense that you are seeing fixes being that close to the end of your current fix deal. Will confirm for sanity with Eon Next as we are 20 months away from the deal ending.

Today's latest numbers from Cornwall meant I had to act fast.  Running the new numbers on my spreadsheet with these horrible projections on the 3-monthly cap projections tipped it way towards fixing with v18.   Managed to get a fix to start from October 1st to the NEXT ONLINE v18 tariff keeping my current rates (v7 ONLINE) until its expiration on that date so that was a real bonus.  Only spent 10 minutes on the phone waiting (which is very reasonable).  Documentation (proof of call contents) arrived online at the end of our chat confirming rates and start of said rates.  All in all a good job done by Eon Next.  Excluding the £400 grant (or anything else yet to be announced) this makes my yearly spend projection from October 22 to be circa £2750 pa (excluding any additional cuts in usage at my house).  We use less than the Ofgem average numbers in both utilities.

Well done. Congratulations to what would have looked like a nightmare a few month ago.  B)

You did better than me as I only managed to get them to delay start until 1st Sep, but I was on SVT so I think I did well today. It can be done, calling and asking for V18 Online and asking really nicely for them to delay start date. I had asked for Oct 1st but he offered Sep 1st and I was very happy, I just had to change to fixed DD for one payment then I can switch back to monthly variable full amount.

I saw your post and thought you were unlucky but that being said, my current v7 fix did actually expire on October 1st whereas you are on the SVT.  They treated me as a RENEWAL I suppose as that is what the taiff was described as in the reference (in picture n my post).

TBH,  I nearly fell off my chair when he stated that they honour current tariff until its expiry date.  Commiserations but still all the v18 tariffs are better than the new projected SVT rates.  However unlikely it is to happen we can exit v18 at any time and jump on to a different (better) tariff if one presents itself.  Going to v18 for Eon Next customers currently on SVT, or ending their current fixed before October 1st, need to now jump on to it pronto IMHO (irrespective of paying extra between now and then).

He actually treated me as a RENEWAL as well, even though I wasn't. He must have played his system a little. I really appreciated it though. I suppose it makes no difference to him as I could easily have been coming off a cheap fix....

Thanks for the advice. I'm on the standard Next Flex and asked to be moved to the Next Online V.18 (starting from 01/09/22). The first person I spoke to said they could not do it and I would have to start within 24-48 hours. I rang back again and spoke to someone else. I explained could I be treated as a renewal, after a short delay he said he I could move on 31/08/22. Confirmation came through in seconds.

If the Cornwall projection is correct I estimate a saving of around £800 by switching to the fixed
  • I already see the emergence of some v19 tariffs today on the Eon Next range of tariffs (they were not there yesterday).  I wouldn't be surprised to see the Online v18 Direct Debit tariff pulled today.

Thanks to this thread, I phoned and spoke to a lovely lady at Eon who agreed to push our start date for Next Online v18 to October 1st and honoring our current rates on the Next Flex until then. Allowing us to decide after 26th August if it is still a good option, which with the Cornwall forecasts yesterday I feel like at Eon we are the lucky ones which says a lot given the dire situation at the moment. British Gas have left my parents up shiz creek, any savings I can make will go to keeping them warm this winter.

My biggest tip is to ask as nicely as possible and avoid the online chats as they said it cant be done.
