Hi All
Finally managed to purchased from SCREWFIX...though it was expensive 68p....hahahehehehehehahahah
how where do i go from here, how do i plug this thing...after putting the switch on i will take the ON side of the switch so that no one turns it off and messes with Alexa.....true ?
thank you all again. hopefully after the switch is put on things will work.Start listening to people instead of thanking them and doing not what they told you.If you really want to do it the cheapest way, regardless of all other factors, then- Take your switch back to SF for a refund.
- Buy there a blanking plate instead.
- Use the connector that you bought from amazon to connect all three brown wires together. Before doing this mark two wires connected together 'line' (each) and the single brown wire 'switched line'.
- Screw the blanking plate to the box instead of the existing switch.
This blanking plate is 46p and will save you whole 22p(!).grumbler said:alykhalil1 said:

now, here what am i looking at ?...& whats a 1 way switch and a 2 way switch ?...i though all switches were 2 way - on & off !!!!!....well in my hallway i think there is a switch which you turn ON from outside the bedroom, walk the hallway and by the door is another switch to turn light OFF.....but as they were messing with Alexa...I have taped the switches to ON & other to OFF position. Smart me !!!!alykhalil1 said:Mr.Generous said:Excellent thread. Most impressed by the tripping of the lighting. Have you considered just using a switch and ditching all the tech stuff so that the light can go on and off on demand - by pressing the 60p switch? I do wish a 2 way switch had been purchased rather than the 1 way just to increase the confusion. Or how about an intermediate switch?
OMG...well, that to me is like a blue print of Buckingham palace.....hahahahahaa. thank you for the effort which i am still figuring out.....DO I NEED TO SWITCH THE MAINS OFF ???? i am bald anyway so my hair cannot straighten up...hahahahaha

I don't know if you are serious, but Mr.Generous was making fun of you.

Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
You fitted that dimmer before, Alykhal, so you are capable of fitting your new switch - after labelling the wires. It's been explained clearly above. And, yes, the mains power is always turned off at the CU. Always...

It’s the next people that end up buying the house, I feel sorry for.
