I don’t agree that buying a blanking plate is necessarily a saving. It depends on the cost of travel to SF.

Did the op say that his lights keep tripping? That seems a bigger problem.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Cheaper than electrocuting himself or others - or burning the house down.
Then there's the cost of a headstone with "RIP MILLION% CONFIDENCE" on it!

I suspect the tripping was due to neutral wires touching the backbox and tripping the RCD. At least I hope that's 'all' it was.

I'm personally not happy with blanking plates and by-passed light switches, in case ignorant folk assume that means it's 'off'.
A key switch would at least indicate a 'switch' is present, and hopefully that they'd need to turn it off.

If Alk is REALLY going to fit that light switch, then it would be really irresponsible to wire it in 'by-passed' mode so it's ineffective. Only fit it AS a switch, and put tape over it if needed - yuck...

I don’t see how the switch is more likely to lead to electrocution than the wago connection?

However, I don’t think that the op should be touching the electrics.

    A dummy/bypassed switch.
Someone can assume that the switch in the OFF position disconnects the 'switched line' in the light fitting.

However, I don’t think that the op should be touching the electrics.
    I tend to agree now.

The op intends to wire that switch correctly, and then tape the switch toggle  in the on position. He wrote take, but he meant tape, I think.

Well, what I see is "after putting the switch on i will take the ON side of the switch so that no one turns it off".
This makes little sense, but I thought  the OP wanted to hardwire switch to be permanently ON.

But yes, "tape" makes more sense.
    In this case
two brown wires go to 'common' terminal
single brown wire goes to '1 way'.

Hmm. It’s ambiguous, but, if your interpretation is correct, I agree that it is dangerous.

Excellent thread. Most impressed by the tripping of the lighting. Have you considered just using a switch and ditching all the tech stuff so that the light can go on and off on demand - by pressing the 60p switch? I do wish a 2 way switch had been purchased rather than the 1 way just to increase the confusion. Or how about an intermediate switch? ElectricsIntermediate

OMG...well, that to me is like a blue print of Buckingham palace.....hahahahahaa. thank you for the effort which i am still figuring out.....DO I NEED TO SWITCH THE MAINS OFF  ???? i am bald anyway so my hair cannot straighten up...hahahahaha
