£160 cashback for Santander Switch for new and existing customers

That's irritating. My switch to Santander completed last Friday. If only I'd waited a fortnight.EarthBoy said:
Probably not, because the PDF with the full terms and conditions has also been updated to show today as the start date, so it seems that Santander are treating it as a different offer to the £160 one.zagfles said:I see Santander have increased it to £175. Wonder if that applies to people who've already started a switch...
1. The Terms
These terms and conditions (‘Terms’) govern our switcher cashback offer (‘Switcher Offer’) of £175 (‘Cashback Payment’) in respect of qualifying switches. The Switcher Offer starts on 23 August 2022
I wonder if there's any more increases to the offer amount in the pipeline.0 -
If you'd waited they might have withdrawn the offer completely, so you'd have missed out altogether. That's irritating. My switch to Santander completed last Friday. If only I'd waited a fortnight.

If you really wanted to, you could deliberately fail the conditions of the £160 offer (so cancel direct debits or something) and then switch a different account in under this offer but I'm not sure it's worth it for £15.Bridlington1 said:

Useful to know re previous switch offer...
I had an issue with my switch so had to phone Santander directly to get it sorted. While on the phone, I asked the advisor if she could check if I'd had a switch bonus before. She looked and said that she couldn't see that I'd ever had a current account. I told her I definitely had one around 2015 - she said that will be on an older system and they usually only look back to 2017. She did log into the old system but there wasn't much on there so she couldn't tell if I'd had a switch bonus then or not.
So if you had a bonus prior to 2017, you'll probably get away with it
She also confirmed that direct debits can be set up separately to the switch
Hope that helps!£12k in 25 #14 £19,041.66/£18k 24 #14 £15,653.11/£18k 23 #14 £17,195.80/£18k 22 #20 £23,024.86/£23k2 -
Woohoo! Was good luck for me to have to wait for the second DD to be setup to switch my second donor account0

I did notice also that £1000 (for the £175 bonus) must be paid in, presumably left in until the bonus payment was made and then removed (there is nothing in the terms to say you cannot do this)0

It doesn't need to stay in the account. It goes by credits into the account so as long as you pay in £1k you will satisfy this term. You can just pay the £1k in and then transfer it out again a minute later if you want and it will count.Deleted_User said:I did notice also that £1000 (for the £175 bonus) must be paid in, presumably left in until the bonus payment was made and then removed (there is nothing in the terms to say you cannot do this)2 -
Ok thank you, I'll see how it goes as I need to initiate the switch and pay in once it's done, can leave the money in for a bit anyway0

Just to add to this as a separate thing, Santander need the 16 digit card number from the debit card to do the switch for some reason else you have to go in branch0

Hi all, I have a an old current account, just set up a couple of direct debits to come from it.Am I now safe to switch or do I need to wait for them to be fully set up. Which I believe can take upto 10 days?0
