Here's how it works:
- Apply for an eligible current account online: 1|2|3 Current Account, 1|2|3 Lite Current Account, Everyday Current Account, Select Current Account, Private Current Account
- When you fill in the online application, choose the option to switch your account to us (this must be a current account you hold elsewhere)
- Within 60 days of telling us to switch your account, you’ll need to complete the switch, set up 2 active Direct Debits (this cannot include Direct Debits set up to fund a savings account you have with Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen), pay in £1,000 and log on to Online or Mobile Banking.
- We’ll take care of your switch, using the Current Account Switch Service. 60 days after you tell us to switch your account, we’ll check to make sure you are eligible and then pay £160 cashback into your account within the next 30 days.
Already have an eligible current account with us? You can switch a current account you hold elsewhere to your existing Santander one to benefit from this offer. Simply visit your local branch. You may need to book an appointment.
Offer may be withdrawn at any time. For further information, including the terms and conditions (32 KB), please see the ‘£160 cashback when you switch’ section below

Not for those who have ever had a switch bonus from Santander before.
EPICA - the best symphonic metal band in the world !6 -
Good point and having to go in branch if you already have an account, that's a pain in the butt.Alex9384 said:Not for those who have ever had a switch bonus from Santander before.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
On the previous switch offers it stated a branch visit was required but you could just phone their switch team line instead.0

Indeed this was the case. There were even reports of people being turned away from branches who made the trip just to do this.crumpet_man said:On the previous switch offers it stated a branch visit was required but you could just phone their switch team line instead.
Shame it's excluding anyone who's ever had an offer before, hopefully this doesn't start a trend for future Santander offers.1 -
Thanks. Saved me a read.Alex9384 said:Not for those who have ever had a switch bonus from Santander before.
Expected it though tbh.0 -
I changed to Santander years ago when it was still doing the 123 account with 3% interest (around 2014/15 time as I was storing my car PCP money to earn interest), I don't remember them having a switch bonus however, can anyone confirm? I was planning a move to Nationwide for the £125 having setup a donor account and a couple of DDs but this is obviously more appealing.0

There's been a few incentives over the past few years. My most recent incentive payment (Nov 2021) was described on my statement as "Santander Switcher Offer Cashback" in case that helps narrows things down when you look through past statements?Deleted_User said:I changed to Santander years ago when it was still doing the 123 account with 3% interest (around 2014/15 time as I was storing my car PCP money to earn interest), I don't remember them having a switch bonus however, can anyone confirm? I moved off Santander ages ago unfortunately, I do now have one of their cards and my online account was still active and can see it still remembers my earnings but no statements. Suspect a DSAR might get something, but I don't remember it being an incentive at the time, just the interest was attractive vs paying for the Halifax PBA I had which I didn't use much of, will have to see if any MSE emails at the timePRAISETHESUN said:

The first one I can remember was a Refer A Friend scheme in 2019 when £50 Amazon vouchers were up for grabs. Then in November 2021 they had a practically identical version of the current offer. This has been rehashed at least twice now.If I were you I would do the Nationwide offer first, then switch NW to Santander. The NW offer has been running for a while and could get pulled whereas the Santander offer has only just been launched. Also NW pays out pretty quickly so you'd be good to start the Santander switch later on this month.2

Might shed one of my BOS Classic Vantage accounts with existing 2 DDs as they are pretty much useless now. Looks like no strings on where the £1K funding has to come from.
