Santander doubling energy cashback for 2 months

My DD is currently £170. Shell Energy will not let me increase it. They actually want me to reduce it. My account is in credit, but not by much more than 2 months worth of the average price cap.
They will reduce my DD by £66 per month for the next 6 months, thus reducing my double cashback.0 -
Mine is £100pm and Octopus recommend £94pm, so doubt they would let me increase, even if I wanted to, which I don't.0

If they did let you increase it, check they'd also let you decrease itwiseonesomeofthetime said:Mine is £100pm and Octopus recommend £94pm, so doubt they would let me increase, even if I wanted to, which I don't.0 -

FWIW, changing DD with Octopus up or down usually is fine (even if significantly different to the recommended value).
The only reports I have seen of issues are if the balance is negative at the time.0 -
Interesting - I raised this possibility on page 3 (although I'm with a different supplier), I haven't found out if I'm going to have the same issue as I'm waiting for my September DD to be taken before making any changes.Vortigern said:My DD is currently £170. There is always someone who will moan about anything. Santander did not have to do this. Be grateful.2

Who is that comment directed at? Has anyone been "moan"ing, or are we all just seeking clarification of details?[Deleted User] said:There is always someone who will moan about anything. Santander did not have to do this. Be grateful.

Ahh flipping flip. It's so easy when someone says it.ZeroSum said:Might as well whack my DD up a bit for those months. Extra cashback & build up a bit of extra credit for the winter
I never thought of that. Total d'oh moment.
Quick maths for those who can - have I figured it right ... up the D/D to £250 & that'll bag you the £10 cap?
I've probably missed out on September but I can change it for October & then drop it again for November.
...................................
Well they want me to decrease my payments to £155 from £175.
Tried setting at £250 but they say the max I can pay is £248.
Comes in to effect 3rd October so it says.
My statement date seems to be around the 25-27th of the month.
I know I'm going to get this wrong here but am I then looking at the 4% being September & October in my case but not November - so once payment has been taken 3rd October & 3rd November it's then that I change the amount back down?
For the record, I pay gas & electric in one.1
