On another note, do GE insist on smart meter installation? Or is it just something they offer?0

I finally got my welcome email yesterday. I gave them my secondary email address. It seems likely that my college email server was rejecting their emails for some weird reason. That has happened before with other companies - fortunately very rarely.1

I signed up to Sparking v6 on 15th July and received the welcome & switching emails on the same evening.
Hadn’t heard anything else as of Friday 29th July, so called and was told my services were moving over from EDF (gas) and So Energy (Electricity) today, 3rd August.
Having seen nothing from my current providers as of today (and nothing showing in my online accounts), I called GEUK again and they confirmed they are supplying as of now.
They said a full welcome pack/online access will follow. I offered meter readings which were taken over the phone. All a little strange so far…

I recently moved my gas supply from EDF to Eon Next and was somewhat surprised not to hear a word from EDF until several days after the switch was complete so I wouldn't worry too much.MattRS914 said:I signed up to Sparking v6 on 15th July and received the welcome & switching emails on the same evening.

Received an email from GEUK this morning stating that my electricity has gone over from So Energy, but there ‘has been a bit of a mix up’ on the gas from EDF and they need to reapply.
This is despite 2 phone calls from me into GEUK in recent days where I’ve been told everything was in hand.
I’ve asked GEUK to confirm Sparking v6 will still be applied, and whether EDF blocked for some reason (no debt there). I highlighted an issue which was supposedly resolved in 2020 by Bulb when I moved to Zog for gas - our Xoserve database entry had a ‘plot build’ address for our 2015 property which caused issues each time gas was transferred. I did get a screenshot from Bulb in 2020 to show this was corrected, but now waiting to understand what has happened.
Nothing is straightforward at the moment, somehow!

Had a chat with GE UK cs this afternoon.
1. fastest pick up of a call ever with a utility - not even 1 full ring!
2. whilst they don't offer fixed dd atm they are happy with you manually overpaying in addition to the vdd to build up credit pre-winter
p.s. EDF also had dragged their feet with my changeover, BG had gone through fine0 -
And my switch has been cancelled by Bulb. Apparently because I owe them money. I don't see why that should be an issue, since they have a direct debit.
Actually the money has left my bank account a couple of days ago. Bulb say that it should reach them tomorrow and that my switch will then be possible.
So hopefully the switch can be reinstated tomorrow.0 -
Yes, GEUK have reapplied for the switch, with a likely switch date of 10th August. I didn't know they could manage the switch so fast.0
