Looking back at their tariffs over the last year and that they themselves haven't exceeded the SVT capped amount the risk is low but still there. However, there are also no exit fees so between now and Sept 2023 you can leave without charge. As soon as I see a reasonable tariff during the cheaper summer months, I will move then.

If no one else is offering, well, I will have saved £700 compared to the current cap +65%. That will go a reasonable way to cover any increase... but as I said, they don't appear to have ever gone over the Cap amount even though they aren't obliged to enforce it. Everyone has to do their own research and take the risk. Fixing on over inflated tariffs or staying on SVT carries it's own risk. There are no good options... just bad, worse and sickening.

Forgot to add... should prices start to fall, Energy companies will be keen then to bring in new customers rather than push them away.
  • Daft as it sounds I’m now a more a bit more relaxed with Green Energy , since today they have pulled the Sparkling 2023 v6 Tariff, and introduced a V7 version which is more expensive - glad I was offered the V6 option this morning when I started the switch process

It has to be said, I never thought I'd be happy to fix gas and electric at 100% more than I'm currently paying?!?

I also have a large stash of logs from the storms so hopefully that will go someway to keeping costs down.

yep - the E7 unit rates for my region are now showing at 49.21 / 31.48 with a SC still at 38p. That's a big old jump on what I switched to!

Does anyone know if theyre able to support Smets1 meters? My last supplier got ours up and running after about a year and keen to not lose the functionality after having it for so long

sucks for people who missed out but at least they took it off instead of over subscribing at lower cost and increasing risk of issues.
My switch is next Tuesday and I got SMETS1 meter which was installed by EON 6 years ago and previous tenants must have changed to EDF and I moved in and now switching to GE UK but GE UK initially said on database it said its not updated and they can arrange new SMETS2 meter for free. but it works on EDF so I am hoping it works for GE UK also but am without IHD lol

I see that the Tide tariff has also just increased for their standard rate (weekday and weeknight), but their peak and low rates are as before. Even with more peak usage than their standard calculation it comes in cheaper than the new Sparkling rate, and it does include a SMETS2 meter.

I am not sure if they will give you a free SMETS1 IHD if you don't have one. I suspect not.

Can anyone say how long it took to get a terms and conditions email, or any kind of written communication, after signing up. It's now been a week since I phoned to swicth to TIDE tariff from my current supplier, and I haven't had anything in writing, though a phone call did confirm a switch date.
