Sounds entirely plausible. Shame money doesn't appear out of nowhere and land in my pocket.0 -

I'm the only person on this forum who looks at the markets everyday?I think it will depend on what type of investors you are. While majority of people in this forum might be passive investors, some are not. The active investors will need to scan the market regularly especially during the bear market although not necessarily on daily basis. Generally people are aware of, or at least believe in what cause this current bear market in the first instance. You want to know if there is any change in the environment ?. People who do not do that should not be an active investor in the first instance. We are quite fortunate in this era, as there are a lot of analysts covering, and debating the current stock market nowadays. Keep in mind these people are professionals, doing 9 to 5 full time job, some are billionaires investors who have track records of making money. In majority of cases they have made summary of the current market, so you do not need to spend time hours researching information by yourself. People could also use it as a process of learning.Having said that, each to their own I am not arguing against those who are using invest and forget strategy, especially when it suits them. But some people want to learn new things want to learn how to adapt to the the stock market environment. It is not and either / or options as people could easily do both at the same time. Also the main barrier that exist in the past e.g the transaction / trading fess has now been lifted with the emerging of the challenger near zero fees platforms.0 -

It's almost as if we aren't on track for an 80% pulldown from the peak at the end of last year. Then we have people posting nonsense theories about us being past the worst, almost without challenge. I'm beginning to wonder if your conviction is wavering.6

I look at them many times a day. Financial markets are an interest of mine, beyond the fact that I've been living off investments for the last seventeen years, having retired at 43, with the notion that I (we) could probably do so.
However, I only make changes to my portfolio annually, those changes have tended to be additional funds, ITs and ETFs rather than binning existing ones, and I take the sensible view of it being a longterm process with inevitable ups and downs along the way.
Those short-term ups and downs are unpredictable, I find. Reason, logic and firmly held views on what markets should or will do are as likely to be wrong as right. The markets do what they will - they're not listening.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.3 -
