So I reckon the US will avoid a recession but the stock market might have a little further to fall before levelling off. The UK will probably have a short recession and then recover. The FTSE 100 will likely struggle for a bit but the 250 will probably so well enough. China and India will drive an emerging markets recovery. Things are looking good - it could have been much worse ;)

It’s the people who are down 30% and more on their mad doomsday gambling I feel for. They’ll be looking for >40% gains just to get their money back…

Type_45. You believe there will be a major market move down. Out of interest and apologies if you have already been asked this, but howhave you positioned your investments for this episode?

Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

Months: September and October in relation to the Market Downturn / Crash In the history
    Key Takeaways
    •     The October effect refers to the psychological anticipation that financial declines and stock market crashes are more likely to occur during this month than any other month.
    •     The Bank Panic of 1907, the Stock Market Crash of 1929, and Black Monday 1987 all happened during the month of October.
    •     Historically speaking, however, September has had more down markets than October.
    •     The psychological effect that causes some traders to blame October for stock market declines may actually make it one of the better buying opportunities for contrarian investors.
Peter Lynch, among others, took this opportunity to load up on solid companies that he'd missed on their way up. When the market recovered, many of these stocks shot up to their previous valuations and a select few went far beyond.
Keep in mind, investors often see the quote similar to this:
Past Performance Is No guarantee of future result
Past Performance Is Not Indicative Of Future performance
History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes
"Stay Invested, gradually but Not Fully (commonly known as DCA)"  Bloomberg Markets and Finance Aug 10, 2022. There are a lot of analysts / Strategists have been saying this recently.

That chart above is taken from "timeline". This is the terminology / abbreviation used by "Timeline" :
SBD: Subsequent Bullmarket Duration, SBP: Subsequent Bullmarket Peak
