Getting the balance right

we tend to sit at around 15-17 Ed were currently sitting at 16.3, we have wood burning stoves that we put on but put the heating on for half an hour or so till the fires heat up then again before going to bed as the fires are in the living room
this will probably increase over winter though to maybe 20/21 or something depending on how we feel4 -
Mr El climbed on the roof and swept the main fire, another wee job done and that will help us over winter, we sweep the fires before and after winter every year. Gonna buy some more onesies for winter and have moved the blankets into the living room for when we get up in the morning and in from work waiting for the fire to heat up.
This is the standard of living for 2 relatively well paid low debt ( credit card only) people living in one of the worlds richest countries... Something is wrong somewhere3 -
I bought a Comfy Sherpa lined oversize hoody last year from Costco for about £20. It’s brilliant for keeping you warm.I know what you mean about standards of living. So many people are going to get a massive shock later this year. I do think that society has become conditioned by central heating and the like. Husband and I always have blankets in the evening. When watching TV. It wouldn’t occur to us to have the heating on but not blanket. I wouldn’t sleep without a duvet but keep the heating on at night.2

It's really worrying. We actually have fairly low energy bills as we're in a very well insulted new build. Fortunately this encouraged my parents to move to one a few years later. Previously they were in an old sandstone terrace. Beautiful but not energy efficient at all. Dad reckons thier energy bills if they stayed would now be around 7k pa- not really feasible for two oaps.

I'm heading to Costco later on in the month so will have a look and see if anything is suitable
£7k pa on energy that's scary to think about. I would need to sell if ours was that, although with a quote of £548 I'm less than 500 away from that.
Dry robes . yep that's an option .
Came back from Mr Els parents last night after taking a chinese down for them, Mr El says will we just get a takeaway, I said yeah I spose so( it was late) he then said you dont want one do you? I replied not really, he then suggested he made one which I was up for, so dinner was very tasty spare ribs followed by chicken with cashew nuts and fried rice... Tasy food
pictures above, goodness knows why they landed there4 -
£22.46 in interest for the credit card this month, I've not paid interest on that account for years and years, I think I am in shock3

After so many years not really thinking about it I now find I really resent paying any interest of the credit card.

Ed I know what you mean, it's a hard decision and I should
Ed worst case scenario I have the money to oay it off, but the problem remains I pay it off... it gets spent again and so the cycle continues,
I've had enough of this cycle now, I'm also very frustrated with Mr El as I mentioned it to him and he said we cant do much about it. So I'm at the stage of let's just suffer until lessons are learned, maybe through paying the interest lessons will be learned, I'm gonna go take £25 off a budget now and when we discuss things I will point it out.
Have also received notice of my professional fees to be paid and the car tax so its gonna be a painful month I reckon2
