Also what's on offer will vary: some will have lots of activities for all ages, and some will be more sedate. I know someone who did a Hurtigruten cruise which was a lifetime dream, when I asked if they'd enjoyed it they had, but wished they'd taken more knitting, because "you can only spend so long ooh-ing and aah-ing at the sight of fjords".

We have done one cruise, around the Greek islands and to Istanbul. Not for us. Too little time in each place and saw too much sea. Maybe we'll think again when we're not very mobile.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I have used the boat to hop between places on the route, although Skjervoy to Tromso wasn't exactly exciting in mid winter. The more local ferries are fun and lead to more interesting places with the Hurtigruten to cover longer distances beyond Narvik.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
Our trip involved some overnight stays in places, which made the difference. Snowmobiling and an overnight at the ice hotel with the Northern lights on cue was a bonus. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Glad you had a good time, and agree overnight stops would make a huge difference. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I know this thread is a few weeks dead now, but What did you end up doing OP?
Personally I would never agree to this.
My parent in laws and sister in law and kids etc, all go on holidays together most years. They did invite us once and I said no - straight off the bat. No I am not interested in spending time and money on a holiday I didn't chose and spend every waking minute with anyone. I have no problem with my in-laws, but I know this would not be for me
With love, POSR0
