Cautiously Optimistic
It's a week today since Mr F's incident 😨 but so far, so good. He's been very tired which is not surprising and a bit nauseous due to the antibiotics he's been on. However, he took the last antibiotic yesterday lunchtime and says he feels much better this morning. He's certainly got more energy. I'm still on tenter hooks though and will probably continue to be for a while. Our whole focus at the moment is on his recovery.
Health- we've walked around the field with FDawg for the last few mornings
- I re-started exercising yesterday. Just 45 minutes of T@i Chi but it's a start. It's very gentle stuff but does work your muscle strength and balance because the movements are so slow
- it was boiled eggs with marmite toast for breakfast this morning (Mr F's speciality) and lunch was Cauliflower Cheese Soup with a buttered, wholemeal roll. There will be a steak supper tonight to keep Mr F's iron intake up (I'll have a vegetable grill of some description) with chips and peas and mushroom sauce.
- Mr F has been paid and a little more than I was expecting. We increased his pension contribution a bit and I wasn't sure the impact that would have so it may be I've over-estimated that. I'll have a look at his payslip to see if anything else is going on
- I've shuffled money around and ordered stuff we were running out of (mainly supplies for FDawg). Also bought a birthday present for one of the Younger Fortunates.
- we're still confined to the house and surrounds for the timebeing but Mr F says he feels comfortable going a little further afield now so we may have some small adventures this week. I think it's important that we both get out of the house a little when we can
- I have a Book Club meeting this week but will play it by ear whether I go or not depending on how Mr F is feeling. I'll prepare anyway because I really enjoy that aspect
- My hair is well overdue a cut now so my next job is to book an appointment
- we've been going up to bed to watch TV in the evening as Mr F is more comfortable lying down by then. We watched the first episode of The M@sk£d S1ng£r last night and plan to watch the second this evening. It's been really cosy and comforting and maybe something we'll continue from time to time when he's well on the odd cold and miserable night
- the thing I'm most grateful for at the moment - Mr F's employer's response to the situation. They have taken off all pressure of work and told him not to worry about a thing 🙂

Good to hear Mr Fortune is recovering! And yes, you will be worried about him for a while afterwards. Just emphasise to him that you want him to be completely honest about how he's feeling, as that will help manage any anxiety you might have. It's easy to fret more if you think he's not feeling well but is hiding it from you.
Hopefully a few little jaunts out will be reassuring. Maybe somewhere where you can have a cup of tea and a small slice of cake?"You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

Stepping out
Mr F has felt well enough to get out and about a little this week so we've had some mini adventures. I've also been able to leave him on his own for a couple of hours... although I did text him every 20 minutes to make sure all was well 😊
Health:- we've spent a little time in the garden pruning and cutting things back
- went up to the local supermarket for a few things and stayed on for coffee and cake
- Mr F has had two steak dinners (I stupidly froze the steaks together and so had to defrost them at the same time 🤭) along with Swedish Meatballs with Mash, Winter Greens & Cranberry Sauce. I've been replacing the meat with fish or vegetable grills for my meals
- picked up a few treats in M&$ whilst out in town today 😊
- the grocery shop came in a little under budget this week
- some fun money has been spent on jaunts
- Mr F sponsored a colleague who's doing something for a good cause
- I've contacted the log burner installer asking to arrange another date
- we bought a squirrel proof feeder to deter the new squirrel who has started visiting
- made it to book club last night and had a lovely evening
- sent some messages out to friends to reconnect
- we went into the market town for lunch today and Mr F waited in a coffee shop after whilst I had my hair cut - I was starting to look like a yeti 😆
- especially grateful today for lovely friends who seemed pleased to see me and have offered help should it be required.
Friday tomorrow peeps - yay!

Glad Mr F is on the mend and you've been able to resume some of your wider activities. It's nice that it's staying lighter longer now.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
