Update
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. Mr F is home now and so far, so good. He is very tired from the blood loss but is looking forward to all the steak dinners I now have to cook for him 😆 I have told him not every day is a steak day but he does have to have a lot of meat over the next weeks - which will be strange for a largely pescatarian household. I've had to think carefully about the meal plan as I cannot eat much meat but I think I've come up with some solutions. I've added steak, beef chunks, beef mince, pork mince, bacon and chicken fillets to the veg box order. I know that's an expensive way of doing things but I can't leave Mr F alone at the moment and it was the quickest, easiest way of getting it here. Plus I know it will be extremely good quality. Cost is not the priority right now.
The Younger Fortunates left after lunch. They walked FDawg and held the fort for us this morning whilst we caught up on some sleep (I haven't slept since the incident). They also popped out to the local shop to pick up pain killers and a few other essentials for me before they left.
I've cancelled any commitments for this week. Friends and family are being fab and I have lots of people locally willing to help if need be.
I am still worried that the problem will come back but we know what to look out for now and Mr F says he's feeling confident that all is well.
We'll be having an early night tonight and I can feel a good cry coming on. I didn't feel frightened at the time - just went into problem solving mode and did what needed to be done. But now things have calmed down I'm starting to feel a bit shaky and tearful.
Counting my blessings big style
Fortune x

Excellent news Fortune!
On the iron front, I'm on iron tablets myself at the moment so I've been looking up good food sources (I'm not a fan of kale or spinach). Apparantly eggs are a very good source of iron, and also most breakfast cereal is fortified with iron. Surprisingly, own brands seem to be a lot better than branded, so I've got myself a big box of Tesco-brand cornflakes for a mere 65p, which are my afternoon snack at the moment.
Also apparantly dairy and caffeine can inhibit the body absorbing iron, but vitamin c helps absorbtion, so some big glasses of orange juice will help (but coffee won't).
Fingers crossed Mr Fortune is soon bouncing back! And do have that cry, you'll feel a bit lighter when you do."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

They always used to suggest undercooked liver. Believe me it is not pleasant - much much worse than rare beef/lamb which I also don't eat (mother made me because the doctor said). I once got told in a restaurant that I couldn't have venison well done, they wouldn't do it. So I had something else.
