Slowly but surely
I'm feeling a little better each day. Mr F is improving a little but it's very slow progress for him. We managed a walk around the field today for the first time and Mr F spent a little time pottering in the barn.
Breakfast yesterday and today was cumpets with ricotta, berries from the freezer and honey. We had leftover Cheddar & Celeriac soup with a buttered, wholemeal role for lunch yesterday and Halloumi & Mushroom Burgers today. Supper yesterday was fish and chips from the freezer as I was very tired and tonight we had Butternut Squash & Sage Risotto.
I reconciled the bank and credit card accounts yesterday and sorted out Mr F's expenses payments. Managed to correct Mr F's tax code on-line in the end too. Gave the dining room a good clean. It wouldl be good to get on top of the housework but I'm still not able to do much.
Today has been a more self-indulgent day. Gave myself a home manicure and pedicure although I ran out of time to apply any polish so will do that tomorrow some time. We're making a quilt at the WI Craft Club and I'd been given 6 squares to sew together so I finished those this afternoon. Nice to do something creative.
I'm tired again now so am planning a hot shower and an early night. We know how to party here in the Fortunate household 😆
Happy Friday all

Emergency - but all is well now
Just when Mr F and I were feeling that things were getting back to normal, fate decided it had other plans for us.
Mr F started to hemorrhage from his surgery last night. He was taken to hospital and went into hypovolemic shock in the ambulance. Fortunately, they managed to get fluids into him and get him to Resus in time to stabilise him. We'll find out today whether he needs a blood transfusion or further surgery.
The Younger Fortunates are here with me and will stay as long as we need them. It was such a close call and I'm so glad that I called an ambulance straight away - they only just got to us in time.
I've had very little sleep and the gravity of the situation hasn't quite sunk in yet but I've just had a message from Mr F and he is awake and there is an improvement in his condition.
I may go awol for a while but will pop in if there's any news.
Fortune x

Oh Fortune you poor thing, that must have been terrifying to witness! Hopefully you get a quick decision on the transfusion or surgery, or hopefully Mr Fortune will already be starting to recover and may not need more than a day or two under observation.

That sounds very scary Fortune. Well done for not panicking and calling the ambulance straight away. I hope the worst is over now and Mr F makes a strong and quick recovery. Not a good start to 2023! Thinking of you both.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
