Happy New Year!
It's been a very slow start to 2023 in the Fortunate Household. I came down with a virus on New Year's Day and have spent the majority of the year in bed as a result 😲 We've been eating out of the freezer and Mr F has kept the basics up to date but not much else has been achieved.
Today has been my first full day up and dressed 😲 I've managed to shower, cook lunch and supper (Mr F sorted out breakfast), put a wash on and changed the sheets (with Mr F's help). Our electrician called and said he was unexpectedly free this afternoon so he came over to sort out a couple of jobs on the list we gave him. He didn't mind that I was ill and I think I'm past the point of contagion now anyway 👍 So, we now have a working outside light in the courtyard and the boiler has a plug so that we can use a generator to start it if we have a power cut. I don't know the cost yet as he's going to send me a text.
I have a rough idea of my goals for this year but will write them up when I'm feeling a bit more with it. I feel as though I just have a regular cold now which shows how gruesome things have been up until now 😲 I'm so thankful that Mr F could stay home and look after me (he just had one work trip which he was able to cancel). He's off to Scotland tomorrow for an overnight though so I'll have to cope without him just for the day.
I had to cancel the log burner installation and a WI Committee meeting but, fortunately, the first week of the year isn't usually very busy. I haven't got anything on this week until Friday so will just take it easy. The Christmas decorations are still up but I need Mr F to bring in the boxes from the barn before I can do anything about them so will wait until the weekend to take them down.
Mr F is due to go in for a minor op on Friday but I should be well enough to drive him by then. We're not holding our breath anyway - it's been cancelled 3 times so far!
Hope everyone is keeping well

Sluggish 🐌
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I'm still not feeling entirely human - more like a slug 😆 Still congested and energy levels are low. However, I am mending slowly.
Managed to get Mr F to hospital and back on Friday for his minor op. It was successful and he is recovering well but that does mean we are both below par. He's signed off work for the week and I think he'll need at least a further week off after that.
I'm keeping on top of the basics but nothing much else is getting done and the house is slowly drowning under a layer of dust. Nothing that won't wait though.
I'm going to have a stab at writing some goals for the year later. Not sure I'm properly awake enough but I can always tweak them later. Feel like I need a starting point even if I can't make a start just yet.
Hope everyone is safe and well.
