John Lewis Partnership Card

I'm pleased to say it was all very straightforward, and I've been given the same credit limit as with the old card, which is very satisfactory as I was concerned about a possible reduction. My circumstances have changed a lot since I originally applied for the old card.
It's worth noting that you can see your credit limit before you complete the application, so if it's not enough you can abort the application and look elsewhere.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -
All good so far. Got my new Partnership card yesterday and have started using it, though prior to that it was available in Apple Pay and I think a temp card was mentioned. I still get texts for every payment where I use the card directly which is something that I liked very much about the old card. The app seems to work well. To pay it off, as well as the usual direct debit and pay by debit card options, they’re offering a Pay Online option with Payit which is something developed by Nat West. It says that the payment will clear more quickly then when using other methods. I’ve not heard of it before. Has anyone ever used Payit to pay off a credit card?1

Not sure using Payit can be much quicker than a direct transfer payment.
I pay my current JLP card as direct payment. It appears as pending in less than an hour and is credited to the account next day,0 -

I use PayIt for my Vanquis that I barely use. It clears instantly!1

Payit will likely send NewDay a signal as soon as your payment takes place (a 'webhook'), so NewDay can record/apply the payment immediately.Presumably they will have some kind of scheduled service checking for payments in their bank account and assigning those payments to card accounts, so even though the payment itself is at the same speed the time it takes for it to be applied to your card account might differ according to the cadence of the service. Not a problem if you pay in a timely manner, of course. As an aside I've always been impressed with the speed at which Amex in particular pick up and apply payments via faster payment - it's not quite immediate (so likely not a webhook) but it's less than 15 mins - so they must have a scheduled service which runs on a very frequent basis.0

I am in a bind. I don't think that the new partnership card will work for me, so would shop around.
Currently I only have the JL card. I am in the final stages of a divorce, so will be applying for a mortgage soon. I would like some advice on which is better, a new "hard search" on my credit file, or a lack of credit cards on my credit file. How will mortgage providers view both of these situations?0 -
I have two issues with the new card:(1) there is not a non-contactless option(2) you cannot change the £100 contactless limit. So if your card is stolen, the thief can spend £99 a time as often as they like until you realise the card is missing and report it, then you'll have to pay whatever has been spent up to that point because you cannot prove you didn't carry out the transactions. Not very good and I doubt I'll be transferring to it.0
