John Lewis Partnership Card

This was news to me (I didn’t read the T&Cs) but I had an online chat on the website and it’s true! Existing PartnershipCard customers who are transferring get 15 days between statement date and payment date while new customers get 25 days. Not a big deal, but it feels very unfair and is something that could have been expressly designed to put the backs up of existing card holders who didn’t want to make the change in the first place. I asked my chattee to pass on my negative feedback.daveyjp said:You can, but it doesn't change the fact that you only get 15 days to pay, not 25.
New Day JLP card does have a 25 day payment option for new applications where it isn't a transfer from the old HSBC card.0 -
It's blatant discrimination. Why would they do this? John Lewis's reputation going to take a serious dent here.christmaslights said:

Hi
i have received both my card and my husband’s card for the the new JL card. I have activated mine but don’t seem to be able to activate his. Has anyone managed this yet, and if so can they let me know how they did it? I have tried via the app and also by logging into my account with no joy.
Thank you0 -
You didn't have a joint credit card, as there is no such thing. Whichever of you applied was declined because you failed to meet NewDay's lending criteria. The other person could also apply.noonie100 said:We’ve had a joint John Lewis card for years - just tried to apply with the code and been turned down, no reason given (although I’m assuming it’s because we pay it off in full every month) Feel strangely insulted - asked to apply and then turned down. And I know it’s not John Lewis per se, but cant help feeling annoyed with them too!

I'm not familiar with this particular card. However, I wonder if, since the card in question is your husband's, only he can activate it? Do the instructions issued with the card say anything relevant?

Nothing else has changed - we actually earn more now and can’t see what else it would be (they dont give a teason)dunstonh said:We’ve had a joint John Lewis card for years - just tried to apply with the code and been turned down, no reason given (although I’m assuming it’s because we pay it off in full every month)it won't be because you pay it off monthly.1 -
Well ok to be specific we have 2 cards (1 each) - his name is on the bill which comes out of a joint account but he got he code and earns twice as much as me and had to tell them how much I earnWillPS said:

Many people have been turned down or had their limits slashed who are more than financially sound. The fact you clear it each month doesn't matter (indeed, from a credit point of view, that is a good thing)noonie100 said:

You earn more now, for one thing, so that's something that has changed. When did you apply for the former JLFS card? How much available credit did 'he' have at that point?Do you have the same amount of available credit now, factoring in that JLFS line of credit is still there?
Have you tried registering your interest and applying in your own name?noonie100 said:

I logged into the account, and activated mine, and it seemed that doing this automatically activated his. Mind you, he hasn't used his yet, because he hasn't yet changed his PIN to something he can remember!penny_less said:Hi
