Caravan day 8Woke this morning thinking of work. Hate when that happens.Today is our last full day at the caravan. We’ll pack up and leave early tomorrow - it’s Mum’s birthday and we’re taking her out for dinner.I’ve kept us within our holiday budget but glancing over spends I can see we could have made a a couple of extra savings. We’re back again in a week’s time and I’ll be mindful of those, namely:
- paying to use the laundry facilities twice (could have done once or none had the weather been better for drying)
- buying food from Saneberries (will go to only Aldee next time)
In the most part I’m pleased with keeping in budget and with the things we spent money on.I do need to be more careful with my diet as it’s too easy to think ‘it’s ok if I eat another biscuit because I’m on holiday’… this is maybe after eating 2 hob nobs, an ice cream, popcorn, and a handful of marshmallows. I caught myself doing it midway through this week. I’ve got a massive sweet tooth so I really need to keep an eye on it.Grateful for our caravan holiday, for staying within budget, and for our precious time together.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸5 -
Congratulations, Mothernerd. Hope Mum, Dad and Baby are all doing well.
Take care, Beannie. Hope you've not done yourself too much damage.
The "new" park was lovely. Lots of parkland and wild meadow rather than formal gardens and there were some brilliant adventure playgrounds as well as outdoor sculptures and art work. It's still a work in progress with a lot of other plans including a platform with views over the city. We walked round the main route but there are lots of little pathways leading off it so we'll be back to explore. We haven't been in that area for ages (if ever together) but it was where Himself was born many years ago. We found the street but the houses had been demolished and replaced by more modern ones. It was an interesting walk back in time. By the time we got home we'd walked five and a half miles and was I ready for that coffee.
Weather is lovely and sunny just now so another walk planned this morning and then I've got plans for a productive day starting with a bit of decluttering (that's my focus this week).
Hope it's sunny where you are, Thrifty.
Have a good day, everyone
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Congratulations grandmanerd. Enjoy this precious time 😊
Yesterdays update:
Didn't say no to an unintended spend. Had takeaway fish and chips and unfortunately it’s my card on the payment app.
Didn’t waste fuel but did feel I wasted money on above takeaway
Cleaned the house so I’m not grumpy having to do it at the weekend good for my stress. Had 2 shandies so not an alcohol free day so still 4/31
Having DH home made me smile & a fab report for DS for school.
Budgets looking a bit squiffy after takeaway spend. Also a few things I could do with buying but making a list and hoping to wait until Aug pay day.
Used top£back for takeaway
Not kicking debts a$$ as much as I’d like. Have a free ish day today so will have a look for decluttering/items to sell or donateNot an nsd so still 2/16
Will post an update on today later. Hope you all have a lovely sunny day 😎Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2608 -
Been to the recycling centre, front yard now tidy. hit the c/s for books to read while I am away next week. Filled the car with petrol in readiness. Bought some cup soups. Going to take a wander up the road to get my steps in.. Someone has set up a little book shed outside their house for book swapping. Everyone else is on a screen playing games. They bore me.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hope you’ve had a good 😊 Saturday, turtles.Miraculously today was a NSD.We've had a relaxed day at the caravan staying close to the site and going to the swing park. I’ve spent a good portion of my time watching the wildlife on the loch. OH is making dinner using some of the ingredients we have left in the fridge. Planning to do a bit of packing tonight so we can have breakfast and leave early in the morning.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸4

@beanielou, I know! Two cube parcels that had to go in a huge pink mailbag & 3 letters! But the free stamps I earn each month are handy for my eboy sales (3 today 😃)
Sorry to report folks, but another wet day, according to the forecast, tomorrow is overcast but dry, then the following 8 days are MORE rain!!
Do you ever wish you could restart the day afresh?! I had one of those days today. Was awake before 6am & couldn't nod off again. My mind was very active, including thoughts of the man I was to meet to discuss alterations to his caravan awning! Messaged another seamstress who has an industrial machine, but she's had an operation on her hand, so unable to help. Tried phoning him 3 times to say I wouldn't be able to do it & to give him someone else's number, but his phone was switched off! Had time to kill before meeting him, so pruned a hedge & wrapped our new fairy lights round the newly cleared fence. Was to meet a group of friends after the man, for lunch, but one had got her days muddled up, thinking it was tomorrow, so not available today. Felt very let down, after looking forward to it! Went to meet the man, then to cheer myself up, I went to a jumble sale in the village. Bought 2 plants, 5 books & 2 dvd box sets. A grand total of £6.50.
Spent the afternoon sewing, or trying to! My machine was playing up, tried lots of things to sort it but none worked. Went to look for my spare machine in the garage. Couldn't find it, but did find a really old machine I was given many years ago. Struggled trying to thread it, but DH found the machine I was initially looking for, so was able to complete the last 3 top shortenings from the first big bag.
Did crochet this evening & watched TV. Sorry for the long ramble! Looking forward to a better day tomorrow!
Grateful for finishing the bag of sewing, DS2 being happier & more communicative, & that I said no to a customer to give me less stressUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Yesterday was quite productive. After my walk (four miles) I washed, cooked, cleaned, plotted and organised. And I started focusing on decluttering by throwing out all my tatty old underwear that no longer fits. There was quite a lot of it! Also found three random items that I sneaked into the bag without Himself catching me.
Gorgeous day here so I'm going to get walking before it gets too hot.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6
