It was very hot here yesterday and more of the same today. It seems very quiet after yesterday's events - party for visiting football fans including live music and other performances, military bands, a pipe band etc etc - didn't get to see whatever came in during the night because I never went further than the bins. At 4 pm they were all marched off to the stadium (all roads en route closed on match days) and the workmen stayed until 9 pm packing away the stage and chairs and stacking all the crash barriers, concrete blocks and fence panels at my corner of the car park.
I'm looking forward to today's event. There's a formal 'unveiling' of the gigantic Pete Shelley mural with speeches followed by a free concert in the Turnpike gallery (upstairs at the library) with a Buzzcocks tribute band and a local punk band. Did some work yesterday (mainly indoors as it was too hot outside until late afternoon - some shade once the sun went over the houses to the front) including the mindfulness washing up. That went well until I ran out of space. I also lifted down the tallest of the window sill tomato plants - it hit the ceiling earlier in the week and is now bent double. 3 more to go (I thought they were bush tomatoes so haven't lopped any bits off).
Lots of resting which must have been good for me as thre pain in my left leg has receded. Things that made me smile/ to be grateful for - photo of new grand-daughter, reasonable music (mostly), sunshine and bits of shade to hide in, progress, doing 3 mindfulness practices - long one x 1.5, everyday mindfulness, emergency breathing (not the proper exercise but helpful when my mind starts to rush, reminding me of all the things that 'need' to be done, except I can only do some of them and very slowly. Oh remembering to jot down any joyful moments is part of my homework as well (another tick).6 -
Busy few days!
Went to London on the train. I made a picnic for the 4 of us as that was cheaper than buying one sandwich at Starbucks! So we had onion and pea pakoras, carrot and cheese muffins and banana chocolate cake as our train picnic.
I also took my water bottle for the gig as there was lots of free water points on site. Essential! Such a hot day! I did buy one pub round which was the cheaper round, only £20. One place was £30. They added on service. What a cheek!
Because I have NAFLD I didn't want to drink much, so it was mostly free water but I also bought me and my friend a Coke at the food stall. I put the can in my pocket, but unbeknownst to me, they crack the cans for you, which would be okay if they properly opened them so you can see, but I just put it in my pocket to help carry stuff with my hand and it went everywhere! Luckily I was wearing a navy top and black jeans and it soon dried.
I did not exceed my budget so I am super happy. I also have a train saving from the week as we have been WFH all week due to power outage at the office. I'm not putting all of that in my savings pot, I am going to use some today to treat us and get us out and about to enjoy the weather I think.
Two fabulous concerts this week, I am so lucky!
Yesterday went to the local park to celebrate a friend's baby's naming day. Such a lovely day. We weren't taking a present but passed a charity shop on the way and there was the most gorgeous teddy in there. He had to come with us! Inspired by all the flowers I saw. I also bumped into a friend who was meeting another friend for an exchange of cassettes. He didn't need them, she's very analogue. It inspired an impromptu game of name the band charades. So much fun!Keep reading books!

I nearly didn't go - was in my bedroom and it was so hot. However I slapped on the factor 50, retrieved my sunhat from the top of the wardrobe, put on a sundress and a cotton jacket to protect my arms, shoulders and neck and set off. Took part filled water and diet coke bottles with me but ended up spending on food.
I managed to find a space in the shade of the trees and had a lovely time. The majority of those present were grey haired or bald and everyone was really friendly. Saw a few people I knew but didn't get chance to talk to them. I'd had breakfast around 6 am and by 2 pm (after the first half of the tribute band set) I really needed food. Would have settled for a packet of crisp but they had no food whatsoever behind the bar. Lots of people had gone outside for a break so I toddled round to little Arseda for a sandwich, snacks and a few ys bits (mostly parsnips reduced to 14 p a bag so I can make lots of potato and parsnip mash). Got back for the second half of the young supporting band who played 99 red balloons, something by Debbie Harry and 3 Green Day tracks (not sure about the friends theme though).
Second half of the main attraction was good too - saved my 5 minutes of dancing for 'Ever fallen in love', mostly holding onto the walker with one hand, holding on with both hands behind me (taking the weight off my left leg) and a few bits just standing on my own - took about 10 minutes for my breathing to come back to normal.
So big ticks for the socialising. I've also got tentative 'dates' to go for a meal at ex s-i-l's, go to the cinema with dead brother's ex gf (it's Kenneth Branagh's 'Belfast' this month) and also possibly to U3A (I'd suggested that as I'm hoping she'll meet new friends and join some of the different interest groups) and I've asked when I can go to meet my grand-daughter. It will be soon but they still have some appointments this week - baby is fine but mummy's blood pressure is causing concern but they've not readmitted her yet.
Grateful for a lovely afternoon, all my sun protection measures (used the sunhat as a fan when I was inside), no social anxiety whatsoever and getting the shopping done and the shade of the trees.9 -
What a lovely sunny weekend it was here in Wales. Haven’t left the house since Friday & really enjoyed relaxing n the garden and pottering.
- NSD 4/16 no spends by me today.
- Nothing wasted, no fuel used and used phone sparingly
- Not too bad healthy wise not an alcohol free day as had 2 shandies in the garden so still only 4/31. I cut up some faded black jeans to make shorts but they are a little tight. I dug out my old slimming globe books and thinking of following it from a week on Tuesday. ( we are away next weekend and celebrating DH birthday) I read an article about people with a bmi over 30, are 80% more likely to become diabetic. Mine is 31.5 so my first goal is to get below 30. Being overweight makes me stress and avoid going out as I don’t like my outfits! but it’s only me who can do anything about it.- Digging out an old ping pong table from the shed and playing with DS made me smile today as did conquering a huge pile of ironing
- Budgets looking ok just need my pending txns to catch up so I know all ok.
- Washed and ironed all ds school uniform. He’ll only be wearing it twice this week so surplus items ready for donating to local uniform charity stall. The rest can go next week.
- Sold 2 items on Fb so money will be going to DS birthday party fund once collected.
All organised for last week of term. Have a training day Tuesday and all 3 of us are off. I’ve budgeted £30 but plan to only take £20 in cash.Have a good week turtles.

Hi all,
Had a spendy weekend, did a food shop in t0sco and bought a new kettle and toaster, used some clubcard vouchers; cat food has gone up in price againToday bought a couple of things in the c00p including cream to go with a raspberry bakewell cake I have made in honour of my parents visiting tomorrow.
I've done some of my PT jobs over the weekend, watched lots of tennis and DD1 treated me to a scone and tea in a lovely cafe. I haven't used my car since WedsDD1 and I have done lots of tidying and cleaning in honour of the parents - see above.
Got loads of washing dried on the line including all the cats blankets.
Gratitudes - nice weekend with DD1, a clean house, DD2 solving a problem on her own

NSD, will need to check the number but think it might be 6.
Has a much better day today. Went for a walk with DH after breakfast. Finished another book whilst eating my dinner, then went outside for the whole afternoon. Had drizzle on & off but THE SUN FINALLY CAME OUT!! The first time this week 😃 we all had baths before tea, as DS1 wanted to show us all the videos he'd made & edited from his & DS3's trip to Aberdeen at Easter. They were really good & we saw places the rest of us had never been. Had some nibbles (leftover chocolate from sproutmas, some fudge I'd been given by a pupil, some crisps & fizzy juice). Great fun. Watched an episode of a series afterwards & did some crochet. Hoping the sun shines next Sunday, as we have plans to visit a neighbouring island & climb the highest peak of all our islands. I did it last year, but the rest of the family haven't. Can't wait to show them the view from the top!
Grateful for sunshine, doing jobs outside & family time watching the videosUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Home from the caravan. As soon as I got through the door I put a washing on. As soon as it finished it was out on the line and another washing was put on.
We did our meal plan for the week and then I popped to Aldee instead of usual Saneberries for our weekly shop. It totalled £34. I keyed in the same shopping list to Saneberries app and it would’ve cost £42! This is a bigger difference than I expected.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸10
