What a scorcher of a Sunday!
I repaired the spaghetti straps on a Knickerbocker dress I picked up from the chazza last year. It still had plastic tags on it, so I think it may have been one of those wear-once Primani buts, and in that one wearing someone may have raced a little in going to the loo and started tearing the straps. It was one of those things that fit me when I bought it, then didn't and now does again. Yay! Floaty light and a bit glam for my big shop!
We went to Mozza, and I know what you are saying about cat food @Deni_debt-free_dreamer - my cat is not going to be happy, but he's only got one flavour AGAIL for the month. He prefers Doubly Delicious, but I think everyone went to Mozza with the cat food price wars and there was literally one box left.
In an effort to stay cool, after the shop we went to the lovely air- conditioned cinema and I used the last of my vouchers to watch the new Thor film. It's written by Taika Waititi, so full of naive irreverence. Much preferred it to the Doctor Strange one. We took our own drinks in.
We bought a chicken from Mozza and I roasted it, but the idea was was to use it to make sandwich meat for the week rather than a roast dinner. Too hot! So instead we ate paella al fresco on the patio. We are trying to avoid ultra processed food for general health (especially since I got NAFLD), so this is our attempt to do better than prepackaged sliced chicken or processed meat.
I wanted to do some freelance stuff, but it was so hot I waited until 11pm, so I have not had much sleep, but I reckon few will have. Heard the milkman deliver this morning!
@grandmanerd sounds like a lovely festival. I saw Buzzcocks with Pete about 15 years ago. I reviewed it for an online magazine, but it's no longer on archive.
Going to try to snooze now. Need to get to the pharmacy before work, and I have booked a free session with a Bootcamp tonight!Keep reading books!

Right have not been on here much as when they say ' if you don't have anything nice to say, be quiet' that was me. I have been angry, frustrated, overspent, and just a bit pooped. But I'm back. 3 hours this morning let me write up where I'm at with my creative project and wrap up a chapter. So I now feel new and refreshed and ready to keep going.
July is planned, the holidays are mostly planned, the front of the house is sort of weeded, I went for a lake swim yesterday with a fiend, did a run Saturday morning, the exercise really helps me focus, and breathe. And breathe.
I am giving birds water in garden in a large pot saucer, they are there every few minutes, I will move my pots into shade in a bit, I am watering way too much.
But yes having a day to myself in the house is magic.
Hope everybody is well. And stay cool in the heat.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Evening Turtles. I am back from sunny Devon and have just caught up with reading what you have all been up to.
Many congratulations grandmanerd! And hugs to all Turtles feeling poorly or just fed up!
After a lovely week we returned to a house full of drunk teenagers having a bbq and a bit of a mess. DD left for the Netherlands before we got back so was not there to keep order. Naughty kitten had found a discarded takeaway bag and was busy eating it’s contents which caused a bit of concern until we discovered it was tomato sauce around his face and not blood. Took us 3 hours on Sunday morning just to sort the garden out. 7 washes later the laundry mountain has been conquered ( we had left instructions on how to use the machine) and I am working my way through the ironing. Thank goodness the weather has been so nice.
Today I am grateful for learning DS1 will be back from Canada on Wednesday, my lovely holiday and good drying weather.8 -
Wotcha, turtles! Am here on a super sunny Guernsey!Today I am grateful for time with 2 cousins I'd not seen for 42 years, for both cousins chauffeuring us to and from their houses, for the pool in the place where we're staying, for the steep hills to tramp up and down, for time too with big sis and bil.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Gardener came round and trimmed back all the hedges so now I can park 2 cars on the drive - just in time for my parents' visit
I went into work, was glad to be in an air conditioned environment. Posted contact lenses to DD2 and bought some toothpaste and oat crackers in home bargaineous.
Came home and stepmum had made tea for us allForgot my HM cake in the fridge! Will have tomorrow.
Nice sit down in the garden with parents having a cuppa tea and a chat.

A sunny day, slightly overcast in the afternoon & the wind picked up, but it was a warm wind for a change! Walked a mile each way to post a letter, then altered 3 items of clothing. Ate dinner, then did some tidying & putting away. Walked to the village for my Dr appointment (another mile each way). I'm low on folic acid & iron, so been prescribed some supplements. Have to go back in a month for another blood test. Followed DS1 to the garage to drop his car off to be fixed (7 miles away). Went into the garden & did some jobs before tea. Had 2 lots of washing on the line, I love pegging it out 😃 watched the last of DS1&3"s videos from their holiday, washed the dishes, then crocheted & watched TV. Another eboy sale made today.
Grateful for walking short journeys & not taking the car, getting things done, DS's surviving their trip & coming home in 1 piece - hadn't realised they were sleeping outside on the last night!Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Hello, too hot to go to bed so will post my update with a cold wet towel on my feet!
- no spends today so nothing spent unintentionally.
- No fuel used and within time limits on phone wasted electricity on tumble dryer as washed too much for the maidens I put washing on.
- Ate quite healthy today & even drank a couple of glasses of water. Work is still stressy but off tomorrow (anyone else feel taking a day is quite stressful when you have a full workload?). Not alcohol free as enjoyed a shandy again tonight this is a habit I need to break!! Alcohol free days are still 4/31
- Sunshine made me smile today and a decent meal.- budgets all looking like they should I will do another check tomorrow to see what I have left will cover what is needed
- 2 car seats sold and paid for in cash. This saves me taking cash out tomorrow I’d budgeted £30 and have £24 in cash. I have transferred £24 to DS party pot and will keep the £6 in case needed.
- Volunteered time for Christmas fundraising for one of ds groups
- NSD today think that’s 5/16.
decluttering challenge has got a bit muddled but with items in charity bag, old contact lenses binned, handbag cleared out, item sold on bay of E & 2 car seats sold I’m definitely ok to claim 11/31 😊Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Good evening!
An NSD today, making it 6.
I just washed my hair and am letting it dry naturally just before bed, so expect big kinky waves tomorrow.
I did a free trial bootcamp today. OH tried with me. He looked like he nearly died! I think I may actually be the fitter one of the two of us! It was jolly hot though. In the distance we saw some bare-chested young men break into a fight and chase each other out the park. Quite the distraction from planking!
I was told by my doctor to increase my cardio and I think I am going to go for it as it seems less likely I'll pay and not go than the gym, plus it's cheaper. I think I will mix it up with free Parkrun and pay for the occasional swim.
Still reading my Karin Slaughter, I'll crack on with that now ☺️Keep reading books!
