Yes, but what is worse - read the statement carefully - they are not changing the signs, they are removing the instruction from the machine. This will only extend the scam because the machine need changing or the signs need changing. The machine only takes 3 characters, removing the instruction from the machine will not change how it works.

If the machine allows more than three digits to be entered, then it depends on how many people enter a full VRM by following the Ts and Cs on the signs as opposed to how many enter three digits as per the instructions on the PDT machine.

If the PDT machine does not accept more than three digits, then the PPC is telling porkie pies, and covering up the instructions on the PDT machine will cause more PCNs to be issued, but without the benefit of proof that the machine and machine signage is at fault.

The machine should show exactly the registration entry detail required, you shouldn't be expected to go search out the main signage for that detail, by which time your 5 minutes will be up and whether you enter the correct number of digits or not, there's a 100 pounder winging its way to you!

I can certainly confirm that my friend's problem at Rockpool in Hayle, that worried him enough to mention it inside the restaurant to the staff, was that the machine he used only allowed 3 characters to be typed, no matter how many times he tried.

It would be great if someone in Cornwall could possibly get to Sennen or Rockpool (near Hayle) this weekend and video the machine only allowing 3 characters to be typed.

I think we have @zhonguonuren in Cornwall. Anyone else heading there on holiday this month who might be able to grab video proof of what happens when you try to key in seven digits?

"For which we can only apologise"  Really!  I think they can do more than that and don't hide behind the "it's not our machine"  The Parking MANAGEMENT company must take responsibility (along with motorists' money) for the state of the PDT/signage.  The PPC should at the least cancel ALL recent PCNs sent out erroneously and further, compensate anyone who has received one!

Hi All

Had confirmation from Armtrac today that my PCN has been cancelled. This was only after i sent this images of the pay and display machine supplied on here (thank you!), AFTER my appeal was refused. Looks like I got the same regurgitated message everyone got...

'Upon further investigation regarding this matter, the incorrect payment instructions were left on the machine when it was installed recently at Mayon Green for which we can only apologise. The machines don’t belong to Armtrac Security and after a conversation with the landowner, the details have now been removed from the machine. They also send their apologies.'

Apologies if this is already on here, but does anyone know who the landowner is. Checked out Land Registry and its £20+vat to find out, but thought I'd check here first.

I've complained to DVLA, and also Cornwall Trading Standards as well as my MP. Armtrac put in their email... 'The matter will not be taken any further and will be deemed closed' ... they wish!

It won't be closed if you all do what you need to do.

As I have posted more than once, those who have complained to Armtrac now need to do a formal complaint to the DVLA and the IPC.

YES - AND THE IPC! Seriously.

You must all state that:

- removing the instructions doesn't reconfigure how the machine and keypad works, so this scam will continue because drovers will still be unable to key in more than 3 characters (which is what is happening at Rockpool)

- cancelling a handful of cases is not enough.  EVERY PCN must be cancelled at ALL these sites, where a partial keying error can be traced (and Armtrac MUST be required by the DVLA and IPC to trace all of them going back to 2021 or whenever this started at each site). 

- DVLA must send in a GIAA Auditor to review that this has been done properly and that all refunds have been processed.

Please could everyone affected just do this...?

It is the way to force refunds for other victims who have paid up or are still being pursued.  Worry the DVLA. Worry the IPC. 

Be REALLY robust. If you get a fob off from the DVLA respond and object. Get your MPs to please write to the DVLA and IPC as well.

DEMAND REFUNDS. NOT JUST YOUR OWN CASES CANCELLED!

Our regular contributor @Umkomaas posts advice on how to find landowners (nearly every week) search his profile (click on his name).  Last time I used the Land Registry it was £7 for a simple search or £3 if done on-line or through the business portal.
