Connected request, as I think the same is happening at another Armtrac site:
Anyone know or can kindly get a picture please, of the instructions on the Armtrac P&D machine at the pub restaurant called Rockpool at Hayle:
https://therockpoolbeachcafe.co.uk/food/
1 Godrevy Towans, Gwithian, Hayle, Cornwall TR27 5ED
Apparently the machine is 'playing up' ...pub staff are well aware and it only lets you input 3 digits. They've raised it but nothing has been done by Armtrac. People are getting unfair PCNs.I am wondering if someone local could kindly test that and/or see if they've just covered up the '3 letters' machine instructions with a sticker? (photo evidence urgently needed!) but the machine is - I believe - configured to only take the first three you type in. No idea if there is more than one machine and just one is rogue.
@faborson1964 who is the journalist interested, please?
Any info or photos gratefully received for a live case I'm doing for a friend. Their account ties in exactly with it being a '3 digits only' machine.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the Daily Mail guy, I will email him tonight, can you possibly email and just let him know 'extra info' is coming to him tonight from Coupon-mad about another case, same issue but different Cornwall car park also ruined by Armtrac,
...and that I'm on the Govt Steering Group (creating the new Code of Practice that the industry has stalled this month with two Judicial Reviews) so he might like a chat with me and I'm happy to use my name and evidence. I was on the recent Ch5 documentary 'Parking - the Big Con' as well if he wants to see who I am (the lady on the beach)PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

and do note we know the three car parks at Sennen Cove are doing the same thing (Parkopedia has complaints from the Harbour Car Park and Trip Advisor has complaints from the Beach Car Park) Here we have the Mayon Green (Sennen Top Car Park)
BBC WatchDog “if you are struggling with an unfair parking charge do get in touch”
Please then tell us here that you have done so.1 -

Do Armtrac have planning permission for the ANPR scameras, and more importantly, advertising consent for their signs. Not having it is not only a breach of para 12 of the PoFA, it is also a criminal offence, but only the council can pursue it. Sadly most councils don't bother.

I just posted this on the other Sennen Cove thread.
Complaints also need to be made to the DVLA, and then when they whitewash it, further complaints to the ICO. This is a GDPR breach and the journos need to be made aware of it as well, and that a company of solicitors called Keller Lenkner is taking the DVLA to court in a test group action case.
The ICO had been investigating the DVLA about these data breaches. It took them four years to respond and concluded it wasn't unlawful, but data was being sold for the wrong reason.
I think it is GDPR Article 6 that applies, but this actually says the data must only be released (sold in the DVLA's case) if it is in the public's interest.
The DVLA do no checks other than seeing that the PPC is a member of a parking trade association, and that's it. They don't check that the PPC had reasonable cause to buy the data, they just assume they do have reasonable cause because they have asked for it.
A fairly recent FOI request showed that in some cases the DVLA was selling data to a non ATA member. That's total incompetence.

Hi All
Id like to add myself to the list of those stung by the 'only put three digits of VRN on ticket' scam.
Contacted armtrak to appeal with copy of the parking ticket and they replied its my error for not putting whole VRN down.
They're not getting a penny out of me.
Many thanks to those who put the photos up of the ticket machine and sign.
I contacted cornwall tourist board who couldn't do anything but suggested cornwall trading standards which i will try, also emailled MP for cornwall west, Derek Thomas but as yet no response.

Given that they already know about the issue they have no justification for rejecting your appeal. Perhaps reply to them and point them to the Cornwall Live article?Jenni x4
