Kroo bank discussion

The only thing that I can think of regarding the senders dob is that sanctioned lists do include that data, if memory serves me right.
To be clear, I’m not defending them as it seems well over the top but that could be the reason.0 -

To be clear, I’m not defending them as it seems well over the top but that could be the reason. So if you want to receive money into Kroo from a sanctioned individual, just give them a different DOB and they won't get a match?Edit: looks like a fair number of those on the list don't have a full DOB associated with them, just a birth year. None of the businesses have a DOB.I'd imagine if any of these naughty individuals or entities were freely operating a UK bank account, they'd be doing so under false details, and those details would be what they'd tell you to pass along to Kroo.0 -
I got a surprising email this morning from Kroo - I closed my account in February and it now seems they owe me interest...

Hi,
We are writing to inform you that your closed Kroo current account has accrued interest.
You previously asked us to close your Kroo Current Account, which was carried out as requested. However, due to a processing error, the interest accrued up to that point was not paid to you. This earned interest has continued to accrue interest since. Whilst we’re only obliged to pay interest to you until we receive the instructions to close your account, we have decided to pay this until 7th June 2023.
We want to return this interest payment to you.
As your account is closed, we will need to transfer this payment to you. Please reply to this email with the account number and sort code of a UK bank account held in your name. Once received, we will make this payment to you within 28 days.
If you do not want this interest payment, we can arrange to donate this money to our charity partner, One Tree Planted. If you’d like us to do this, please let us know by replying to this email.
Please take a look at the questions and answers below. If you have any more questions, just reply to this email and we’ll be happy to help.
How did this happen?
A processing error meant that your closed current account was not correctly cleared of any accrued interest. This interest was paid to your closed current account as normal on the 1st of the month following your account closure. This interest payment will have continued to accrue interest until 7th June 2023.
What happens if I do not want this payment, or I do not want to give you my account details?
This money is yours, and we’ll keep it safe until you get in touch, in line with our Terms and Conditions. It will not continue to accrue any further interest. If you do not want this payment, we can donate this money to our charity partner, One Tree Planted. Please let us know if this is what you’d like us to do by replying to this email.
What if I do not have another UK bank account in my name?
Please contact us, and we will discuss a way to return these funds to you.
Can I open up another Kroo account and have the interest paid there?
We can’t currently accept applications for Kroo current accounts where you’ve previously opted to close your account. We hope to support this soon.
Thanks,
Team Kroo
anyone else received something similar ?
the email looks genuine - sent to an email address I only used for Kroo and all the headers look the same as genuine emails (mentions of zendesk domains etc).
it's literally only going to be pennies of interest, so i'll donate it to the charity mentioned.

I am still with Kroo, so have not received that email, obviously.
I do find this bit interesting though:

Policy decision, or techinical issue.
Chase have appeared to be the same atm.0 -

There are already several easy access savings accounts above Chip's rate and they haven't responded yet.

Chip doesn't make the the ToTP top 10 .. 10th is 3.85% and if one more get's in above that, Kroo won't make the cut either.3

Chip just went up to 4% and active from today.
