MCOL - Money Claim Online. Its a governent website where you can submit a small claims application, pay fee and keep upto date with the claim, apply for judgement etc.
CEDR is an alternative dispute resolution service where an independent adjudicator will look at your case. The airline has to abide by it by if it goes against you, it doesn't stop you taking the case to court.
CAA have tried to wash their hands of any responsibilty or action on the whole 261/2004 regulation.

@Suzycoll Jet2 have not signed up for an alternative dispute resolution service (ADR) -

As your flight departed from U.K. if you are not happy with Jet2 decision you can escalate to CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team (PACT) using their online form https://www.caa.co.uk/Passengers/Resolving-travel-problems/How-the-CAA-can-help/How-the-CAA-can-help/

Best of luck! Don’t give up - jet2 are reputed for playing hardball here (more so than easyJet or Ryanair)

Nope EJ, Ryanair, BA, all the airlines are as bad.
Only with  KLM have I had an effortless claim. Submitted claim whilst waiting for delayed flight, paid up by the time I returned from 2 weeks holiday.
Jet2 had their butts well and truly kicked in the Courts by the Huzar case. I don't think the other ailines have ever forgiven them as their stubborness resulted in a siginificant legal clarification in favour of the passenger.

  • I got the exact same reason from jet2 as stated in the original post.  I have replied to their legal team with a letter before action, also asked for more detailed reasons, as yet - nothing back.
  • I am in the same position as you Dave. Will send a letter out also. May I ask if you also went to the Spanish airline  adjudicator (can't remember name ) thanks
  • Our flight was from Greece, but no, I haven't been in contact with the Greek adjudicator.  If I don't hear anything soon I guess my options are MCOL or CEDR.  Is there any advantage of going down one route over the other, apart from time? thanks.

Jet2 aren't signed up to an ADR. If your delayed cancelled flight departure was UK then you can go to CAA. If it departed outside UK then its either that country's aviation authority.
    Or small claims
