The deals talked about below are no longer available.

Well done to all those that jumped on them before they were replaced.

Along with this offer that has expired I do suggest now looking at the best switch and fix rate left on the market. The Sparkling Tariff from greenenergy is a traditional fix or if you fancy a time of use tariff Tide but that requires a lot of thought an energy use planning for most.

ACT FAST BEFORE OCTOPUS ISSUE AGILE V2 AND TRACKER V4

DISAPPOINTED AGILE AND TRACKER V3 NEVER APPEARED ON THE IS IT WORTH IT MARTIN LEWIS NEWSLETTERS!!!!

As they are not taking on any new customers this will be for existing only but here goes as it's not your normal fix you move your different energy to different Octopus contracts.

Octopus Agile for your electricity, this is capped at 35p for 12 months

Octopus Tracker for your gas, if you get on v3 it is capped at 11p for 12 months

Both of these are looking very good value against the predicted October increases

(Correction thanks @k_man) The Agile product even has a lower standing charge than the current price cap. Both have no exit fees and you are free to move to the variable tariff if they move the goalposts. Which so far they have never done within 12 months of someone taking these products up.

Smart meter required for Agile, tracker you can sign up without one but will need to have one installed. Thanks @k_man

ACT FAST BEFORE THEY CLOSE THEM DOWN OR CREATE TRACKER V4!! OR BEFORE IT APPEARS ON THE MONEY SAVING EXPERT NEWSLETTER.

The current Tracker (V3) has the same (or virtually) SC as the other Octopus fixes, which matches SVT. (Tracker V1 and V2, no longer available to switch to, had lower SCs).
Do other fixes elsewhere (albeit not easy to find now) have higher SC than SVT?

Agile does indeed have lower SCs. Although not for long if there is a rush.

And both require smart meters, although you can move to Tracker while waiting for your meter

    Clarification:

    Agile requires SMETS2 meter
Tracker may require a smart meter at some point in the future, band there are reports that this is being planned for later this year

Strictly speaking, Tracker does not require a smart meter, but you agree to the following on sign-up:

Also, Flexible (aka SVT) has a 'Loyal Octopus' electricity SC discount, (which I think is?) for customers that have been with Octopus for a minimum length of time (8 months?), of circa 13p/day.

As mentioned above, if you want this you should probably move fast. This is supposed to be a load shifting tariff and large numbers of customers who just want the 35p cap will defeat the whole point of it. This is what happened with the EV tariff(s) when customers without an EV signed up because it worked out cheaper overall. I think its just a matter of time before Octopus make changes. A higher total cap or preferably a higher cap between 4pm and 7pm are on the cards.

I hope (and suspect Octopus do too) that once users see the chance to save by load shifting away from 4-7pm, they will do so.

This only works though, if there are periods of lower than capped costs.

Recently these have only been on weekends, but even a shift to weekend is a step towards the mindset change required for more efficient usage.

I don't find Octopus fixed rates cheap 40.22p and 11.58p on the dearest fix and 38.62p and 11.15p on the cheapest fix, for the Yorkshire region. the electric is over 48% dearer and the gas over 60% dearer. on their most expensive fix which is just a couple of pounds per month dearer than the cheaper fix.
Someone please tell me what money is

    The question is:
Are Octopus the only energy company left with a decent fix?
Here's a left-field one for you. I've just got a quote from Green Energy UK (one of the uncapped "deep green" suppliers" and their open-market "Sparkling Tariff" is a 15-month fix (to September 2023) at about £2800/yr for Ofgem's typical customer. With no exit fees.
In my region - Southern - I'm offered:
    • Gas - 11.75p/kWh, 31.31ppd SC
    • Electricity - 38.96p/kWh, 43.39ppd SC
This is a similar price to the £2800/yr EDF and E.On Next loyalty tariffs currently showing on the MSE article, and a bit cheaper than the supposed "cheapest open-market deal".
(I can get as far as the GEUK sign-up page but don't want to go any further so can't give a 100% asurance that it's available.)

Are any providers offering better fixes?

And the OP was actually referring to Tracker for gas, and Agile for electric rather than the normal fixes:

Good info, hopefully a few Octopuses will see this and save some money
