Edit: several leasing companies are advertising the model Y as “in stock” whereas the Audi has a typical 20 week wait. With Tesla having already cut prices in China (where the Model Y is I believe made for the UK market) it might be worth hanging on for a cheaper deal.
I simply posted because I thought it was "comment-worthy" that I could truly say that there was price-parity between an EV and equivalent ICE. I think it is the first time I have been able to say that and I have been quite vocal in commenting on the cost of acquisition as a hurdle to EV adoption, so it is fair to comment when a more favourable figure leaps out.
That said, business lease rates hide a multitude of sins and the private consumer still faces a cost of acquisition challenge for an EV versus ICE. Still £48k for the cheapest TM3 and £52k for the cheapest TMY.2 -

Didn't look to see how many months it is over but if it is 48 then that is still only 50% of the car value - wonder if 4 year old model Ys will have such good residuals or if Tesla are setting themselves up for a big loss on the finance?I think....0 -

Turning to your personal situation, I know from previous posts that you are looking for a premium vehicle but I would ask is it essential that you have a brand new car? It’s just that the savings on some 2/3 year old ICE cars can be substantial. When I was looking for my Golf estate I also had a look at 3 year old BMW estates and saw several cars with less than 50k miles for under £16k. That’s around £40k less than the cost of a Model Y. Yes, it will cost you more to run the BMW but as you are now working from home it would take more than 20 years to recoup the price difference in fuel savings? I only raise this since I believe you are currently running an aged ICEv and presumably mindful of costs (this is a money saving forum) would ask if the extra cost of a new EV is something you can live with when there are 2-3 year old ICE equivalents at a third or even quarter of the cost to buy.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

Saving of £250 is about as much as there is to be had currently.
There are several forumites that have the MG4 and all seem to leave positive comment - it is a new model so there are no "long term tests" as such yet.
The MG4 seems competitively priced and well-equipped.
I would want to check the safety ratings.
The MG4 (and the MG5) do seem to be attractive packages though.

MG BEV's are relatively new, but I think the main takeaway is the lack of nightmare stories. I'm sure some folk will have had issues, as with all makes and models, especially if new, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of negative press - certainly not enough to set forums, Youtubers etc, alight. I think if you combine new + Chinese + cheap(er), it would be fair to expect a bit more negative news than average, so MG BEV's ticking along quietly is, I think, high praise.
So perhaps, excellent VFM?Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

I’m not knocking the MG4, particularly the long range version: it’s probably all the car anyone needs but is it all the car you would ever want? A few years ago you could probably have said the same about a Ford Focus - it drove well and was good value and it outsold premium brands but it was not an Audi or a BMW.
In its sector the MG4 is the stand out car but it is not a Lexus and potentially you could be disappointed a few months down the line because you have prioritised value over quality/luxury (whatever that might mean to you).Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)1 -
