Which EVs are suitable for a midlife crisis?
The new Tesla Roadster should do the trick unless you exit mid-life before they get round to making it?

TM3-P is a boring, practical midlife crisis car.
I suppose it would provide an alternative to an M4 midlife crisis car.
But that's not a full-blown crisis, just a midlife wobble for a bit.
No more a proper crisis than an E-Tron GT or a Taycan.

It's not all around just fast acceleration.

I agree that the Telsa Roadster would fit the bill.  Risk is that is has to be the funeral car given the delays to date, plus the price is prohibitive.

There was rumour of Lotus offering some EV midlife crisis solutions but they, too, seem to be delayed.  The stop-gap seems to be another big EV SUV.

If I'm going to do this, I want to do it properly, so EV alternative to MX-5, Boxster, F-Type, Caterham, Evija or more outlandish...

Well ...... how about a BEV conversion of one of those cars?

Saw a vid on a conversion of a Ferrari 308 (Magnum car). It ended up quicker, faster, lighter and slightly more range (tiny fuel tank on the 308). Also the owner can use it as an all year round daily driver now, whereas before it needed TLC, and the winter's off.

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

Nice idea, prices are a challenge.
Does the MG have uprated crash rating as well?

Here's the Ferrari vid if you fancy a good laugh. Took out the 200bhp engine and popped in 500bhp of BEV power. In order to stop it spinning wheels and going nowhere, the power has to come in gradually in steps at 10mph and 30mph.

Electric Ferrari - time to give classic cars a new lease of life?

Interesting (if too long) vid but it still seems as though there is no midlife crisis EV (not for the "normal" people anyhow) - does this explain the profile above from Solarchaser that older people prefer ICE?

It doesn't look too mid life crisis, but I'd suggest with those comments you haven't yet driven one.

It's not just about the acceleration,  it handles bloody well too!

Yeah, a lot of car. 'Just' the LR with acceleration boost can best be described as a 500hp electric go-kart, with all the weight spread out so low down.

Probably more a discussion point than news for now. But talk of more low emission zones across Europe, and then ZEZ's, zero emission zones, as we approach the end of ICE's after this decade.

Old cars forced off road as Europe’s clean air zones nearly double

The number of clean air zones across Europe has risen 40% since 2019, forcing older and more polluting vehicles off the road, according to new research based on EU data.

Low-emission zones (LEZs) have now been introduced in 320 European city regions, and that figure is expected to rise by more than half again, to 507, by 2025.

All of Europe’s top 10 most popular tourist cities now restrict petrol and diesel clunkers, with stricter rules expected in existing LEZs including London, Paris, Brussels and Berlin within three years.

The new study argues that now is the time to step up the action, by moving to zero-emission zones (ZEZs) ahead of a planned phase-out of new fossil fuel vehicles in the EU by 2035 and the UK by 2030.

Up to 35 ZEZ’s are planned in Europe by 2030, with 26 solely addressing delivery vehicles in the Netherlands. Smaller pollution-free zones are planned for the same year in parts of Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Heidelberg, Milan, Oslo, Rome, Rotterdam, Warsaw, Birmingham, Liverpool and Greater Manchester.

Two small-scale schemes are already up and running in Oxford and parts of central London.
