Went to Mr Ts yesterday and spent £20.57 which included a large pork shoulder to make pulled pork and pork fillet which will be used for tonight's dinner, bringing my total spend for this month's GC to £86.89/£250 so £163.11 left for the month - looking as though there may well be some left over which will go towards spending money for our holidays later in the year rather than the bulk fund which I usually do.6

Still no spends to declare here, mostly because I've got very into doing the food inventory and meal planning. Used up some more lemon and ginger to make tea this morning (watered it down a bit more this time so it's not quite so intense!), and will be making making sausage and aubergine polenta for lunch that I'll throw the old mushrooms and spare cherry toms into, and an instant pot lentil soup to claim the remaining fridge detritus. I'm also working my way through the Shreddies that 5 yo has gone off, taste lovely with oat milk and banana; I might even miss them once they're all finished.

Howdy folks, still on vacation but it's the last day. We'll be going back to the main city this afternoon after spending the last two days at a lake resort further out. OH and I will fly out at 2:30am so I'd like to get going soon to collect some custom items I ordered and do a bit of gift shopping before packing and jumping on the plane. It's been a wonderful two weeks away from home and I definitely want to return to this country on a regular basis.
In preparation for our return, I placed a Tesco order this morning for £132.83 that's a serious restock of the fridge and household items like laundry, dishwasher and clothes washer cleaners, etc. Also, at least £20 of that order was yoghurt just to rebalance our stomachs from all the holiday eating! We're going to dine on a lot of fruit with yoghurt for the next few days just to keep things light. That order will arrive this Friday afternoon, the day after we return.
I also placed a £20 veg and fruit box delivery order with our local folks to also arrive Friday. They couldn't really tell me what would be in the box so I took a gamble with the Tesco order and got veg I didn't think would be in the local box.
Estimated £153.83 / £250 spent so far. Est. £96.17 remaining.
I'll update the total on Friday after the Tesco order arrives. By then I'll likely have placed an order for some Thai curry pastes we haven't had in a few years that we miss quite a bit. Those should run us about £15 on Amazon and will last us at least a year. We'll also stop by our local halal shop this weekend for basmati rice, spices, etc. Let's see if we can keep that to about £10 as well. Lastly we need to head to Aldi for toilet paper at some point before the end of the month. After those purchases, I think we may just scrape by this month.
Have a lovely day everyone and waving from a cool and breezy East Africa!6 -

@Soontobeoap - what about making some duchess potatoes with the LO mash? You could serve with some sausages or chops which could be cooked in the oven at the same time. Could also do a tray of roasted veg while you've got the oven on which you can use as part of a lunch, perhaps chopped up and stirred through some couscous or bulgar wheat.

Or dip in flour, egg and breadcrumbe and make potato croquettes add some parmesan cheese or paprika to liven it up a bit
its been extremely warm today and I have stayed mainly in the shade as I don't do excessive heat well. I'm very fair skinned and even with factor 50 I will burn . My son -in law is cooking at the moment so I think we are using up some of the food from the freezer as we come home on Friday morning and tomorrow night we always have our last dinner in the local pub ,so its a use it up meal tonight
