That's quite a reasonable article. the only thing I'm not sure about is this:

The IAS handled 16,769 appeals between October 2020 and September 2021. The success rate for motorists was 24 per cent.

I thought the IAS "bragged" about only allowing 4% of appeals?

Maybe they mean POPLA. Daily Mail journalists aren't known for accurate reporting.

Perhaps they have an agenda in stating that figure. When the new single tier appeals service starts they will be gone. Hopefully they will drain the swamp and none of the present incumbents of IAS will get a look in.

20% are dropped by PPCs at IAS stage

4% of appeals heard are upheld.

The IAS Annual Report adds both together and for the uninitiated, it reads as if 24% are allowed.

Either way, a truly appalling kangaroo court in the minds of right-thinking observers, including MPs.
