Parking stories in the News/media

A PPC scam victim driver who stopped for 3 minutes to read i-Park signs then left the car park after deciding not to stay, has apparently:
" ..incurred thousands of pounds in costs trying to fight the 'fine' and has had a county court judgement filed against his name but says he would rather go to prison than pay any money...
The IT worker added: "I have been harassed and fined by this unscrupulous organisation, in my case, without even parking.
Jed now hopes to be able to defend himself in court and is considering fighting for I Park Services to cover the thousands of pounds in costs he's incurred."https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/driver-given-car-park-fine-29016192.amp
No idea how he reckons he has incurred "thousands of pounds" in costs, given he has (it seems) ignored a court claim and is holding a Judgment for Claimant by Default.
Even if he has applied to set the CCJ aside that is a court fee of £275. Not "thousands" unless he has pointlessly thrown money at a solicitor...that is not needed to set aside a CCJ.
Odd article - but yet another PPC scam.
Take a bow, I Park Services for reportedly failing to allow a fair grace period for a driver to read signs and leave.
Come the 'glorious day' when PPCs start getting permanent DVLA bans as a result of proper Government-led Scrutiny, the most rogue firms will be history,PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Do you know what, McDonalds?
You DON'T NEED a parking time limit. Never did. Kick the PPC out.

Passed to debt collectors and your credit record is ruined
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Daily Mail on a roll today, meanwhile back in CornwallDriver fined by Cornwall car park 'scammers' for staying only long enough to read the rulesGosh, has a Daily Mail journalist nearly got it ? Not quite there but better than usual."Members of the public are not legally allowed to issue fines to other motorists even if they are parked illegally.
Local authorities can issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) if you park incorrectly or for too long on public land.
Private companies are also allowed to issue parking tickets. Many call these Parking Charge Notices but they are not the same.
They are not backed up by law. Instead, they are invoices for a breach of contract.
For example, if you park in a private car park you agree to a contract that says you will pay a fee and leave after a certain time."
BBC WatchDog “if you are struggling with an unfair parking charge do get in touch”
Please then tell us here that you have done so.1 -

With all these newspapers, it's all very well printing a story but it always ends with "We asked XYZ to comment"
No surprise then, everyone knows they won't comment, their newspaper is tomorrow's fish and chip paper
At least social media are stickies
Trouble with the Mail and all other newspapers, they do not follow up
The best thing the Daily Mail can do is ask the BPA / IPC why they have so many money scammers as members. And to keep on until these so called unregulated scam clubs answer
