Residents have been reacting to new charges that came into force for more than 100 car parks in the New Forest.
Car parks have been left almost empty with people leaving their vehicles elsewhere - something residents say is an inevitable consequence of the price hike.

Llanover Estate confirmed their intention to introduce parking charges at the car park formerly leased and managed by the Council.
Attempts by Caerphilly Council to extend the lease held for a number of years was unsuccessful. The Council will continue to manage the remainder of Pen y Fan Pond Country Park, including the lower car park, visitor facilities and the reservoir but Llanover Estate will assume management of the upper car park and the adjacent grassed area.
Time will tell if the clear signage promised to guide visitors and provide clarity on parking arrangements materialises.

April Update:
The council has confirmed that any further criminal damage to the machines will not prevent the scheme going live as app-based payment systems are available.
Instead, the authority warned it would increase the scheme’s overall costs and inconvenience people without smartphones by forcing them to use online methods or risk a Penalty Charge Notice for illegal parking.

Quite scary what happened to this elderly couple. Shows you can never believe what a parking firm tell you.
● thought they'd booked a 3 day meet and greet service with the airport.
● booking email said the car would be parked in a '24/7 CCTV, Multi Story Car Park
● realised it wasn't when a £100 pcn from ParkMaven arrived for Overstayed authorised parking session – time in car park: 2 days 23 hours 27 minutes at Holiday Inn Express car park in Bickenhill Parkway.
● surprisingly ParkMaven cancelled the pcn on appeal saying your VRM was not added to the whitelist by the on-site staff!!!
● the couple are now getting scam text messages sending links to pay a parking fine.
The meet and greet parking company may well use other car parks to park cars but they didn't share that information with the couple.
They may not have wanted their car parked at the Holiday Inn OR their VRM details passed onto others OR the opportunity for their keeper details to be requested and released from DVLA to a private parking operator.
The couple where given no choice in this matter and that's really not on.

Dorset Council is being asked to agree to new ANPR cameras and partly solar powered ticketless parking machines at the South Beach car park, the Marine Tce park and at Shell Bay.
The Trust believe the changes will make parking simpler and better for the majority of visitors – and also help maintain its revenue.
