Shropshire pub and restaurant announces ANPR cameras for car park
https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/shropshire-bridgnorth-pub-8541872
The Punchbowl Inn and Restaurant, on Ludlow Road said the decision came after attempted burglaries and checking CCTV and seeing the car park being used for ‘extra-curricular activities’.
The owner clearly feels ANPR cameras will succeed where CCTV cameras failed…to stop these 'unwanted happenings'.

How exactly will ANPR help stop robbing and dogging?!

You begin to question if Councils are fit to manage parking/enforcement. Here's another one having to refund drivers for parking fine errors dating back to 2020!
https://www.thesun.ie/motors/16947820/parking-ticket-blunder-council-issues-refunds/
Strategic director at Elmbridge Borough Council said the nature of the error meant the “legal activity of issuing the car parking fine was incorrect”.
Parking fines issued between 8 and 9am and between 6 and 7pm, in 17 car parks may be eligible for a refund.
Wonder if the refund will include interest.

Issue's been posted already on this thread but I felt the comment left in this article was worth highlighting. IMO he's spot on...penalties for incorrectly issued fines...we should not under estimate the seriousness of incorrectly issued parking penalties/fines/charges.
Just wish someone would ask when interviewing Mr Will Hurley CEO IPC and others pushing for £160 penalty fines if they agree there should be penalties for those who incorrectly issue penatly fines/charges.

That might be a question for Trevor Whitehouse, didn't he claim to have an ANPR solution that could stop terrorists and other such?
From the Plain Language Commission:

I would expect this activity to take longer than whatever C/period they set.

It was more of a general observation about ANPR. It cannot stop anti-social conduct and will do nothing to deter crime.
We all know if dodgier people want to get up to no good in a car park, such as a car meet (or robbing or dogging!) they'd just cover their numberplates when driving out.
Not condoning it. Just an observation.
