Mc Donald's, Double Dip, and were not talking about the  chicken flavour nuggets

As we all know ANPR is the most accurate system on the planet for recording how long a vehicle is on a particular site, as a result of this fantastically accurate system a Leeds man was caught staying over 14 hours in the car park.
The fact that he drove in after work, and then again the next day is just a trivial fact that gets in the way of scamming the motorist

    Link to the news report:

He looks like he spends too much time at McDonalds as it is, regardless of the 'fine'.

    Wake up call!  🍔 = ⚰️
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

This is the second story we've had about UKPC issuing PCNs at a time they say people can't park, yet a store was open. Last time it was a newly added Lidl that had longer opening hours than other shops (see earlier in this thread).

This time it's KFC in Newark, where a genuine patron committed the heinous 'crime' of visiting the Drive-Thru at 1am:
    https://www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk/news/early-hours-visit-proves-costly-for-kfc-customer-9278959/

    It was open until 2am...

"A KFC spokesman said: “To help keep things running smoothly, we do have some parking limits in place, but Jon’s experience clearly wasn’t great.  We have contacted our partners who operate the car park to make things right and cancel the fine.”"

OMG I wish deluded retailers would wake up, complain to the managing agent/landowners responsible for this pointless contract, dump their mostly aggressive, litigious and unnecessary PPCs and stop calling the thugs 'partners'...

And now for something completely different:
    https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/experts/article-11318569/amp/TONY-HETHERINGTON-boss-staying-quiet-parking-fiasco.html

"Which? – the organisation that provides page after page of website advice about how to fight parking tickets – is headed by a man who works for a company that makes millions out of issuing parking tickets".

    Wow!  News to me...

The Consumers Association (CA) in 2015 intervened on behalf of Barry Beavis, supporting his case by citing consumer law as it stood (pre-CRA 2015).

The CA actually put up a stronger argument than his weak legal team did at the Supreme Court, IMHO.

When did all that change, one wonders?

  • Free NHS parking 'to be axed'

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11319739/Free-NHS-parking-axed-Parents-sick-children-disabled-hit-charges.html
    • Health Secretary Therese Coffey's department is looking at cuts to save millions
    • It would go against the 2019 Conservative manifesto which vowed to 'end unfair hospital car parking charges for those in greatest need'
    • The saving plans would also affect doctors and nurses working night shifts

BPA and IPC favourite "look how techy our members are" firm Flowbird are in the sticky stuff:
    https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/drivers-overcharged-400k-car-park-25254077.amp

"A council is to sue the company running card payment transactions at its car parks after drivers were overcharged by a total of £400,000.

The eye-watering sum was clocked up in more than 200,000 duplicate debit and credit card payments at machines in Worcester - which left some of those affected hundreds of pounds out of pocket."

I'm not convinced that 'sue' is correct, because all the Council have done is issued some sort of contractual failure notice AFAIK.

Embarrassing for Flowbird, which boasts of offering parking apps and terminals in 80 countries, including in major US Cities.

A slightly more detailed version is on page 8 of Parking Review this month with a stuttering explanation blaming 'software' (hmmm...an app then...which is what Flowbird do for a living, innit?):

Excel ruining a Leisure venue and trying to pretend that Equality Act duty to make 'reasonable adjustments' only requires them/landowners to remove physical barriers to access:

Five minutes isn't enough when people discover that the payment system isn't operating properly. By the time they leave past the ANPR exit camera, even someone without autism would have taken over 5 minutes under these circumstances.

    From the article:

They also stated that larger disabled bays and lower payment machines mean they meet the requirements for ‘reasonable adjustments’ to be made under the Equalities Act.

Lower pay machines  and larger disabled bays do not make a reasonable adjust for all, especially for those with other hidden  conditions such as dyslexia where extra time may be needed

Karl and his mum Vikki have now been fighting the fine with parking firm Excel Parking which manages the Darlington car park, but so far the company hasn’t budged on the penalty.

Unfortunate use of the F and P words, but instead of going for Simons shower of crud that is Excel - where they only thing they excel at is making people lives a misery  why not go for Feethams Leisure and wallop them with a claim under the Equality act over the actions of their agents

Hopefully Karl Bracken, and/ or Vikki Bracken, will spot this article and get some real help on here

This is similar to Stefano's case in Lichfield. Tried various methods of payment and then left. Won at Walsall.

This young lad in the article is probably on an apprenticeship and won't be earning much.

Euro Car Parks ruining another leisure venue:
    https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/slapped-100-parking-fine-despite-25288333.amp

"There's scaffolding outside too, which covers the parking meter, so it isn't at all obvious it's there. I went back through to the Wacky Warehouse and there was an A-Frame in the lobby telling you about registering for free parking, but I'm convinced it was not there when I visited.'

What IS the point of ANPR at that pub?

Do they want to lose business?
