These machines exist as I've used them at numerous car parks.Guess this hotel in town chose this system knowing return business is unlikely if a costly PCN is added to customer's visit or booked stay.5 -
Embarrassing...Asda and ParkingEye are back in the headlines with the same parking management error which was seemingly rectified in 2022.Customers are furious to find ParkingEye has again reduced the Asda store max night parking stay from 3hrs to 30mins and issued PCNs to customers claiming they'd overstayed the max stay.An Asda spokesperson confirmed "this was done in error. It has since been resolved, with the hours reverting back to three hours maximum stay."Resolved now...but for how long?6

Airport parking fines 'may be unenforceable'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyvnrjjnv1oLorna Howarth said she was given a "nonsense" £100 fine from car park contractor VCS after she stopped for 56 seconds to ask for directions at Bristol Airport in May.
Legal expert Gary Rycroft has questioned whether the couple did in fact "breach any bylaws" and whether VCS has the authority to enforce the fine.
Bristol Airport and VCS have been approached for comment.

I'm sure some PPCs have deemed airport byelaws to be old /out of date/obsolete , as far as I know this has been trotted out a few times and then put down to a one-off error

Why then, can UKPPO, APCOA and VCS get away with £100?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

‘They are ruining my life’: how the shadowy world of debt collection can wreck your finances | Borrowing & debt | The Guardian
Related to mistracing for alleged water bill debts from the ever reputable Thames Water. The incompetent BW Legal gets a mention.
Article brings up this tidbit:
Victims of mis-traces can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office and, if the company is a member, to the Credit Services Association if records linking them to the debt are not promptly corrected.
Maybe the CSA can be used as a complaint avenue in the cases of mis-traced private parking demands?5 -
