Maenporth Beach café owners say their proposed car park ANPR system would stop the problem of overnight camping, antisocial behaviour and beach bonfires.
https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/maenporth-beach-car-park-number-9268939#comments-wrapper
After backlash from locals, regulars and planning objections the café owners ditched their ANPR car park plan. One local resident said this technology "is not a solution to the reasons the leaseholders have reported" and "thought it was a “smokescreen” to make money out of people."
Their ditched ANPR plan has been replaced with a VRM pay and display system with parking company attendants patrolling and checking cars.
Motorists are asked to make sure payment tickets are displayed clearly to avoid any issues. Hope the leaseholders realise that clear signage, a workable paying system one that accepts payments/prints a full VRM on tickets within the PPC allowed time and employing a fair PPC who adheres to the code will also help to avoid any issues.
Anyone using their beach café will also be entitled to a partial refund on their purchased parking ticket when they spend a minimum of £10 in the café.
The new pay and display system was introduced on 21st Aug. The leaseholders should maybe prepare themselves for a further backlash when their parking company start dishing out the PCNS to their customers.

The private parking industry may not have recognised and addressed motorists payment problems using parking apps but here's a Council that has.Brighton and Hove council scrapped cards and coins payments more than a year ago now transport bosses have decided to re-introduce card payments in some places where the Internet signal is particularly bad. It's part of a three month trial to see how popular it is. Pay-by-card machines have re-appeared at 12 locations. If BPA member Brighton and Hove council shared these findings with the BPA it could help BPA understand why the '5 minute to pay' T&C offered by their AOS members is so utterly ridiculous. But then again maybe not.4

Teacher Tom Green says "If Euro Car Parks system has a problem it cannot be the customer that ends up paying for it"The private parking industry disagrees Tom and it doesn't care if you would think twice about going to Lullingstone Country Park in Eynsford because your parking experience has been “so horrific”.2

Pensioners trapped in Nottingham tram park and ride car park after their car was clamped by "third party" CPS Solutions, and were stuck overnight as they couldn't get the rough to the private "third party" clampers
https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/pensioners-night-hell-after-nottingham-9511621
If I'm not mistaken, isn't there something not quite right with the Nottingham tram car parks using private companies to clamp cars and pocket the money ?From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"4 -
A man says he has been 'put off' from eating at Chadderton's Toby Carvery after being hit with a £170 fine for using the restaurant's designated car park which bosses 'cannot cancel'.
https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/news/24545179.oldham-man-unfairly-fined-170-eating-toby-carvery/He says: "I feel like I am being persecuted as a customer of Toby Carvery who has sold out to a parking company which is looking to maximise fines charges. His father added: "My son has been targeted with this corporate scam. He is being penalised by Euro Car Parks which is claiming to have sent notifications he has not received. They have no proof of sending or delivering these letters."A letter from Euro Car Parks as seen by The Oldham Times told the man the company "accept no responsibility for individuals failing to receive their letters".The family are prepared to challenge the charge in court if it comes to it.4
