Parking stories in the News/media

What these stupid supermarkets should do is suspend the restrictions for 2 months. They will see sales increase and their profits increase
That means the treasury will have more money to waste1 -
We missed this one in July:
Horizon Parking ‘given carte blanche’:
https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/perth-kinross/4548406/cancer-hit-oap-couple-fined-70-for-shopping-too-slowly-in-pitlochry-co-op/An elderly couple who both have cancer were wrongly hit with a £70 parking charge at Pitlochry’s Co-op store.
Ronnie Robertson, 77, and his wife Mary were penalised for parking 17 minutes longer than the maximum one hour allowed.
But the Co-op vowed to cancel the fine after we brought it to their attention – and admitted restrictions should not have been applied to blue badge holders.
The holidaymakers say they have stopped off at the Pitlochry Co-op in previous years without penalty.
The Co-op in Pitlochry.“I would have thought in the first place that anyone parking in a disabled bay would be allowed more than the hour,” Ronnie said.
“It doesn’t reflect well on the Co-op that they have given carte blanche to a parking company."
Pitlochry Co-op and Horizon Parking are named and shamed for a clear breach of the Equality Act 2010.
The BPA must be so proud.

TESCO WOKINGHAM
HORIZON PARKING
named and shamed
https://wokingham.today/shoppers-slapped-with-70-fines-for-parking-at-tescos-wokingham-store/
Horizon Parking are issuing £70 PCNs for parking in completely unmarked & unsigned bays that have been used by shoppers for years.
"ANGRY shoppers have criticised supermarket giant Tesco after being slapped with £70 fines for parking at the Wokingham store. Two women held a protest last weekend outside the entrance to the Finchampstead Road site while holding placards to warn other motorists.
Both were issued tickets for allegedly parking in an unauthorised area by Horizon Parking."

Daily Mail today ...... THEY STILL THINK IT'S A FINE/PENALTY
Driver claims car park outside B&M is luring people into leaving their vehicles in a 'false' space then slapping them with £100 fines after he was penalised

And in the York press:
A York supermarket is seeking to install spy cameras and 30 warning signs to ensure only its customers use its car park.
https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/23781251.morrisons-says-non-customers-using-foss-islands-car-park/Euro Car Parks has applied to City of York Council to erect two ANPR cameras and 30 signs in the Morrisons car park on Foss Islands Road.
The application says access to the Foss Islands Retail park will be unaltered but the cameras will record cars entering and leaving. Seven different styles of signs will also warn drivers of this.
Such equipment will efficiently manage car park use, which is necessary, it says, due to “inconsiderate past use of the car park by non-patrons of the store.”
I have yet to see how an ANPR camera on a pole will mnage car park use
This appears to be the site, google streetview from 2019 that curiously shows ANPR cameras and signs
and the comments in the york press website also seem to show that such a system is in place
Jim 8 hrs agoUser ID: 7167There have been cameras in use by EPC in that car park for several years - stay longer than a couple of hours and they'll issue a PCN.Last Updated: 2 hrs ago
surely not some attempt at retrospective planning permission at play here?wonder if they have advertising consent?
From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"5 -
Idiotic Plymouth pub signs a pointless contract with Euro Car Parks that will penalise their customers:

The Tamar Pub in Crownhill, you are named and shamed. Along with Euro Car Parks of course.
"Now, customers of the Morshead Road pub will need to register their vehicle at the bar on every visit. Anyone who fails to comply with the new terms and conditions could end up with a £100 parking charge notice"
Errrr...why?

An interesting article
Bloke is worried he'll get a CCJ if it goes to court.
He's photographed himself driving with a dog on his knee
He's posted is parking ticket with the registration number on
and he can't be bothered to fight it.2 -
Armtrac/Sennen again:-
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/beachgoer-told-pay-100-charge-even-after-showing-proof-of-valid-parking-ticket/ar-AA1gItVW?ocid=U148DHP&pc=U148&cvid=9b23ca0551274b0984b3346aae275228&ei=79
"Despite launching an appeal, the psychiatrist from Newcastle has now blasted both the management company and the landowner after it was rejected. "My appeal rejected despite me sending them a photo of the ticket which has my number plate on it and covers the time of the incident," he said."
Oh dear:-
""If I end up in court I could a county court judgement affecting my credit score. The easiest thing to do is pay and I don't have the time and energy to fight it."2 -
Why would a journalist fail to Google it and realise he didn't have to pay this scam?! Sigh...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Confusion (and PCNs - kerchiiing!) caused by two BPA members having adjacent signs at a station:
https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/drivers-express-confusion-after-being-27657513.amp
St Neots station is named and shamed, along with APCOA and Euro Car Parks.
"Many people have said that they were confused because they the claim the two companies involved with the car park, Euro Car Parks and Apcoa, have 'pay for parking ticket' signs close together. The signage for each can be seen at both the entrance and inside the area."
How convenient. What a cash cow.
The BPA must be so proud. Doing anything about it? Thought not. No breach of your Code...? Very rarely is.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
