Parking stories in the News/media

Elderly guy confused by a pay on exit machine that required him to pay £2, which he did, only to get a PCN in the post because the machine was set up to put the burden on him to input his stay (even though the ANPR system knew it):

Minster Baywatch you are named and shamed.
I am unimpressed that you cancelled it (course you did; presumably AOS members were instructed by the BPA to avoid bad publicity right now).
This sort of scam where the burden is put on the driver to input info that your system should calculate is ENDING.
Get used to it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

"So it’s not Asda fault then it’s the company who run the cameras. Which it would state on the letter. Bad mouthing the wrong company."
"Funny how they are always disabled, does that make a difference with someone getting a fine or not?"
"If it was just some bloke on his way home from work why would it be less of a thing? Everyone would be saying he should have read the signs."
So glad we are the ones informing the Government and not Mirror/Daily Mail readers who think it's all OK if it's on the signs, and not Asda's fault.
Wonder what house holders will say when they cannot afford food or mortgage payments and get a scammers ticket ?
Rishi has now very limited time to get his ministers, mainly Gove, to put a stop to the UK's biggest scam ...... private parking companies
On TV today, I watched Sundak preaching to IKEA staff, it reminded me of business opportunity ponzi scheme, Sundak making promises he can never keep
Sundak, get rid of Gove ..... he alone could destroy you
For those not understamding. Gove is in charge of LEVELING UP and that involves the great british PARKING SCAM
Sundak is not a real PM, we never voted for him, he is a momey making ex banker who is totaly oblivious to the real world2 -
I am liking this being raised in the House of Lords by someone who knows what is happening to motorists - and the timing is immaculate:
https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/transport/2023/06/24/former-council-leader-lord-sahota-to-make-stand-over-parking-fine-scams-that-target-innocent-unsuspecting-motorists/
"Lord Kuldip Sahota is calling on the Government to do more to protect "innocent, unsuspecting motorists" from "scam" private parking fines."

And in the blink of an eye, here's yet another damning article about ParkingEye reportedly issuing £70 'fines' to patients at a Hospital where they knew their machine wasn't working:
https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23608951.fury-norfolk-community-hospital-car-parking-blunder/Of course it's NOW been cancelled as soon as it made it into a newspaper - and the NHS Trust says the PCN was issued 'in error' - but was this 'blunder' cancelled on appeal, ParkingEye?
Oh look, no it wasn't...
Parking Eye allegedly refused the chap's appeal because they reportedly said that people without a Smartphone "could have paid on the app".
Honestly, I believe ANPR should be banned from the hands of private firms.
It's past a joke. Far worse than clamping.
It's a licence to print money, isn't it?
Time to get lost, ParkingEye and your ilk?
How about this idea for ANPR firms in general: get out of Hospitals and Supermarket car parks, stop "raping and pillaging" sites with auto-PCN machines (ANPR) and do something much more useful for Society instead?
I don't think a single person in the UK (except directors, employees, their families and trade bodies, and of course some of the greediest landowners) would miss any parking firm which ends up on the scrap heap (for whatever reason) once the new statutory regime exposes the worst conduct.
See above from Lord Kuldip Sahota.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am unsure if this article has been already posted. The Berkeley centre appears so often in the media it's hard to keep up.
Many judges dismiss these wrong VRN claims. They see the consideration as the main element of the contract and don't see the input of an incorrect VRN as a breach.

Next up for 'furious back-pedalling' the minute that a newspaper exposed a scam: Group Nexus have toed the BPA line and cancelled the unfair PCN.
They REALLY don't want publicity for scam PCNs right now, do they?!
https://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/23617846.basildon-westgate-car-park-machine-owner-axe-fine-laindon-resident/
So, given the passenger PAID BY CARD, why exactly did Group Nexus' payment processor inexplicably refund it?
They can't be bothered to explain that...and WHY are they going to the DVLA and blindly issuing a PCN, in these circumstances of failure to take the offered money at their end?
Not that the brainless people who added comments get it. My Goodness...!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
