The Plough pub Tilehurst
The journalist forgot to spell-check ANPR but the point is really that this pub is now doomed. ABSOLUTELY STUPID.
That's their TrustPilot and TripAdvisor reviews ruined, their staff and cleaners all 'fined' and repeat custom almost dead within six months due to unsuspecting customers being the real targets.
Tilehust is just a large village and the pubs will mainly be used by locals so this landlord will have a fight to keep his pub running

Welsh driver wins parking case because the parking company, Simple Intelligent Parking Ltd, failed to provide the documentation in Welsh for an alleged parking contravention at Anglesey.
Shame on the BBC for the use of the 'f' word.

Short article in the latest (Summer 2023) edition of Third Age Matters (magazine for University of Third Age or U3A) about exclusion of older people due to use of parking apps and the phasing out of pay as you go meters.
Clive Betts, Chair of Westminster's levelling-up Select Committee, said older people are at risk of being digitally excluded by the use of parking apps and that people should not have to wrestle with countless apps or face fines if they cannot use technology. He said he has written to ministers about the problem.2025 Decluttering Campaign 466/2025 🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟

Valid points above but it is not just those who feel unable to use Apps that are prejudiced. Whilst I am of the U3A age, I find technology easy (I used to work an industry that used it) but I do get frustrated when it doesn't work properly or as advertised. Last year on a trip to the Lincolnshire coast, knowing that there was nowhere to park on roads leading to beaches (they are just too narrow), I armed myself with four different apps that should have covered all the car parks in the area, set up accounts with them all. First place I decided to stop, no signal - move on - then the second place had a signal but refused to accept my log-in details so had to set it all up again, made it with seconds to spare before the PPC imposed 10 minutes elapsed. Not a state anyone wants to be in when they have popped away for a few days relaxation, no matter what age they are!10

I agree with you there @Le_Kirk. I live in Lincolnshire and large areas (including the village where I live) have abysmal mobile coverage which makes using those pesky apps impossible at times even if you feel comfortable using them.2025 Decluttering Campaign 466/2025 🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟

Gawd, this is depressing that intelligent NHS workers can be so deluded and easily duped:
https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/23575908.burnley-nhs-staff-receive-parking-fines-dating-back-5-years/
They've only got bog standard UKPC robo-claims from DCBLegal that are the easiest to see off and pay nothing.
Yet the duped victims are wrongly saying:
"“I’m really depressed about this. I can’t afford the £280 that I’m being asked to pay. I have to choose between finding £280 or accepting a CCJ.“I love my job as a nurse but this makes me want to quit!”
What IS the matter with people?Send them here! These claims are dated late May and are ALL defendable and are all winnable with NO HEARINGS, if they respond properly and swiftly.
My goodness just Google it and come here. So easy to defend.
Anyone here fancy leaving comments there on the article, or contacting the paper to explain there is a third EASY TEMPLATE option that costs nothing and doesn't result in a CCJ?
Burnley General Hospital and the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust are NAMED AND SHAMED for badly advising their staff and for coming across as weak and embarrassing apologists for UKPC, blaming their own staff for not responding to threatograms and speaking about this debacle as if UKPC's aggressive, late litigation is normal.
Grow up, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and take a good hard look at what Stoke Mandeville did when UKPC became a problem for their staff.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This'll be a weak meeting where I predict that the Welsh MS will be too polite and will swallow every word from Euro Car Parks (that they 'operate in accordance with the BPA CoP...nothing to see here'):
https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23579177.wrexham-meeting-held-island-green-car-park-owners/
"Lesley Griffiths MS said: “Readers will be aware of the ongoing parking problems at Island Green Shopping Centre and both Ken Skates MS and I continue to be contacted by constituents who have received unfair fines.“We requested a meeting with senior representatives of Euro Car Parks and we are grateful the invitation has been accepted. Once the meeting has taken place, we will, of course, update constituents.”
"Grateful", eh? And what "Fines"?
I'm not holding my breath. This sort of meeting, with too much politeness and no knowledgeable voice of dissent, is what PPC World suits do best.
Flipping heck, I'm glad I was on the Govt Steering Group because the utter 'pants on fire' drivel that they would have possibly got away with otherwise (though I say so myself) was just as you all saw whizz past the nodding dogs on the DLUHC committee.

Now their patients and staff are getting hit with unfair charges at £100 a pop with no fair/independent appeal on offer.
Imagine my surprise. This one above that I posted about recently, is rearing its ugly head again:

She appealed the penalty notice which was rejected by ES parking so has contacted MP Sara Britcliffe to help with the situation. Miss Britcliffe has written to ES Parking Enforcement and The Community Health Partnership on Sue’s behalf to ask them to consider and respond to the points she has raised.

I personally think that all BB holders should get free parking and I am not a BB holder. I know that people will say that some can afford to pay but many are on limited income. The lack of parity between the various NHS trusts, council and PPC's causes issues for people who have a disability and may not have good general health.
