I've emailed few minutes ago to move my gas to tracker and got following reply within half an hour

"Thank you for getting in touch.

We have ensured to update your gas tariff to Octopus Tracker v3 as requested."

    And online it showing

    YOUR TARIFF
    Octopus Tracker
    Octopus Tracker v3

    Fixed term ends 09/07/2023

    7.60p/kWh27.22p/day
What do you perceive fixed term means?

Standing charge fixed at 27.22p and gas capped at 7.6p kWh?

Just wondering from an actual Octopus customer what this means to you👍

To me it's means it's fixed price until end of date. That I won't be charged above the price quoted.

To be honest like everyone trying to get  better deal then price cap.

I enjoyed switching engery supplies for over 13 years. Recently I was unlucky ones to be with Yorkshire engergy when they went bust. Then I was transferred to Scottish Power where I moved to Avero. Since then prices gone crazy and ended up with Octopus.

Looking at this forum and trying to gage different people's recommendations.  🙄

Thanks to lot of people giving their thoughts and views.

Same here never really stuck with any provider just chased the cashback and referral credit, cashback sites etc which made cheap energy even cheaper.

It's good to have your opinion all that sign up to tracker and agile see it as fixed. Which is how I read it as well and luckily got my mum on agile for electricity and Tracker v3 for gas and customer services have confirmed the capped fixed rates for her 4 weeks ago so she also sees it as a confirmed fixed deal.

Just trying to see off the nay sayers that say these deals aren't fixed👍

As discussed, they probably will be effectively fixed, but the cap and SC are not contractually guaranteed to be fixed (unlike Go and Go Green
    https://octopus.energy/blog/terms-conditions-agile-go/)

     e.g Tracker SC:

    https://octopus.energy/tracker-faqs/

The unit rate is updated at midnight each day based on the latest wholesale price. Changes to standing charges are infrequent, and we’ll let you know at least 30 days in advance of any changes coming into effect.

Agree to disagree on historical treatment of the cap through previous high price cap and SC rises and I don't mind this being bumped to the top I want as many people to get the chance to see and get these October Cap beating deals as possible👍👍

Disagree, my avro octopus account wasn't set up until end of November and only because I harassed them through email, twitter dms and phone. Some didn't get their accounts set up until Feb or March 2022

The kWh price is not fixed at 7.6p though as you are on a Tracker tariff which is capped at 11p, so it will change each day, but not go above 11p during your fixed term.

Yes I kinda of understood that? I am assuming that standing charge will stay and kwh will not go above quoted figure.

Not guaranteed; as has been pointed out many times now, SC can be changed subject to at least 30 days' notice.
There is nothing, AFAIK, to stop the unit rate cap being changed, or even removed altogether, at any time, and it's not even subject to a notice period.
We all hope that Octopus' past actions (launching a new version, rather than making any changes to existing versions) continue, but, as things stand, it's just that, hope.
Given how crazy high wholesale prices are this summer, I imagine that it depends on how mad things get over the winter, and how many people are on existing versions of Tracker, as to whether Octopus (even with their best intentions) would be able to sustain past practice, and withstand the hit?
