Octopus Energy answer in public yesterday about Agile 35p cap

Mstty said:Actually going by how difficult people are finding it to get the agile and tracker info (these are octopus customers not our resident experts on everything Octopus)to change their incumbent deal with Octopus and now this discouragement reported by customer service for tracker v3 it may be a policy not to encourage saving over the year on these Octopus plans.A weakness/strength of Octopus is that they don't give their CS staff scripts to work from and encourage them to learn organically from each other and have a lot of freedom in resolving problems, net consequence is that any time you start feeling there might be a 'policy' in play, odds are there isn't...Even when they really should have clear policies and scripts for things like clear descriptions of the 'Promise' cap tracker tariffs, they do not.For the most part I suspect what people are getting is the old perceived wisdom that Tracker and Agile are for the enthusiasts only and are risky tariffs, which is now of course, somewhat ironically, no longer the case. So, as you say, trying to tell people they are volatile when for the next few months at least they are the cheapest fix out there event though they were not designed to be a 'fixed tariff'.

Below in bold italics posted one page back by someone who has moved to Agile.bristolleedsfan said:Octopus Energy answer in public yesterday about Agile 35p cap
So I suspect Agile V2 is on the cards soon if they issue fixed term contracts. This isn't a surprise given the news yesterday on future price caps and price per kwh
Well I have pushed this enough on this thread and others if you got the deal congrats of you miss out commiserations👍
I have joined as wellAgile OctopusAgile Octopus February 2018Fixed term ends 08/07/2023Dynamic unit rate 21p/dayThank you to everyone. Now need to sort gas out now.0 -
Not sure on the legalities, but the website still states the following, so they may be on dodgy ground charging the cap, for existing Agile customers, in their 12m period:bristolleedsfan said:Octopus Energy answer in public yesterday about Agile 35p cap
https://octopus.energy/agile/
Price Cap Protect keeps you safe from surge pricesWhen more electricity is being used than generated, wholesale prices rise. While price spikes are short-lived, typically lasting 30 minutes to an hour, they do happen. Agile Octopus includes Price Cap Protect, which ensures you'll never pay more than 35p / kWh for your electricity, guaranteed.
never and guaranteed aren't exactly ambiguous, and no * included...
I suspect a new version would be released instead3 -

"Agile Octopus includes Price Cap Protect, which ensures you'll never pay more than 35p / kWh for your electricity, guaranteed."
So come October this is going to be a good deal with the upcoming increased rates. Can they increase the standing charge on Agile?1 -
Standing charge is not referenced for Agile (that I can find), whereas it is explicitly fixed for Go and Go Green:pearl123 said:"Agile Octopus includes Price Cap Protect, which ensures you'll never pay more than 35p / kWh for your electricity, guaranteed."

Are you an Octopus member who has received something to the contrary to this in their contract for Agile or Tracker to go against what @Pearl123 has posted?1 -
I've emailed few minutes ago to move my gas to tracker and got following reply within half an hour
"Thank you for getting in touch. We have ensured to update your gas tariff to Octopus Tracker v3 as requested."

Was about the standing charge, not the website comment about the cap, which I also referenced here:k_man said:
