I understand what you are saying but is it really misleading if the information is there? Shouldn't buyers take responsibility for not reading auctions properly?

    Of course it's misleading...are you dim!:mad::mad:
It's deliberately set out to con a new eBayer....how would you feel if you got scammed like that.

It's one thing if you don't read an auction and you get a size 12 instead of a size 8 dress...or a pink widget instead of a blue one...but NOT if someone sets out to steal from you.

Nice to see such a caring attitude at this time of year.....................

out of curiosity, what is an "auction wrecker"? wont they be barred?
Auction wreckers are people who deliberately bid ridiculously high and outbid everyone else so they win the item but have no intention of paying so effectively they wreck auctions.

Sometimes they do it for malicious reasons, for example taking revenge on another ebayer who has upset them. That is bad.

Sometimes they do it to wreck scammers auctions. That is usually good.

They start accounts with the specific intention of using them to wreck auctions and they don’t care if ebay bar them. They just open another account or they have multiple accounts ready.

Sometimes it can backfire though and force the price up for the scammer who can then offer the item to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th bidder. Looking at the auction here, the other bidders appear to be experienced ebayers. Unfortunately ebay have almost killed off the possibility of somebody contacting the other bidders with this bidder1, bidder2 nonsense.

No I'm far from dim and I don't need to resort to name calling to air my view.
I still don't think its misleading as the information is there if the buyer bothers to read the auction carefully. Nowhere did the auction state bidding was for a console. It clearly said, and I quote from auction "You are bidding on a Pink Nintendo DS lite box." It wasn't hidden in lots of text like you would expect. Couldn't have been clearer IMO.
Its time buyers took responsibility for not reading auctions properly or asking questions if there is any doubt as to what the auction is actually for.

And as for my caring attitude at this time of year......pot kettle black

    Was it new?

Just I've sold 2 new silver ds lites on eBay recently and got £151 and £162 respectively..... :j

nah it was used but was like brand new ...... but my feedback is low 24- 100% so that might be the reason though
also sold a bundle of 7 games for £66

What are you on about..." caring attitude". My caring is reserved for the poor person who was being honest and looks like she got ripped off for over a £100....as opposed to your comment which was pretty much along the lines of tough for her for not reading the ad properly. Am I supposed to display a caring attitude towards you too, that's what your comment infers...are you insecure perhaps...if so...have a !!!!!!{hug }}}}:o;)

I've also contacted the buyer and made them aware of what the auction ACTUALLY said...and advised her how to get in touch with eBay to get ( hopefully ) her cash back from this conman and to how do so by using the "deliberately misleading " section on the Reporting system to eBay. I'd say that was pretty caring wouldn't you?

What have you done ( in a caring way of course :A ) to try and help this fellow honest eBayer who's just been ripped off for over £100...or is your contribution limited to saying she should say she should learn to read ads properly? I'm more concerned that somewhere out there some poor kid is going to miss out an their main Christmas present through some con trick.

  • Is there a reason why feequinn's user name is visible rather than just showing up as Bidder 5?

    FFM :)

It is not a private auction, new eBay system is that it hides the losing bidders user names but reveals the winner. Private auction hides all as normal.

It was misleading, why did the seller feel he had to photo the receipt? Seller tried to pull a fast one and by the looks of it failed.

It could have been a lot clearer like 'YOU ARE ONLY BIDDING FOR THE BOX, NOT THE ACTUAL HANDHELD CONSOLE.' Now that would have made it clearer.
