Why oh why don't people read auctions properly?

I have just seen an auction end on ebay for £126. It was for a PINK DS BOX!! Just the box, no console. The auction description was only a few lines and said that the auction was for a box. No mention of a console, to me that's quite clear there is no console but most people won't twig it. The buyer will be on here soon moaning they have been scammed. Personally they have no one to blame but themselves.

Also saw another DS auction yesterday that said it was a pink ds in the title and also in the description. At the end of a load of text about the console it also said "Colour-onyx black" Don't know how much that ended going for.

I know not everyone uses this site so isn't aware of the lengths a seller will go to to make a few £££ but why don't people read the auctions properly?

  • And why do sellers try to mislead buyers so that they can make a few pounds and then say it's their own fault they have been scammed?

Because they are swindlers, that's why.

I understand what you are saying but is it really misleading if the information is there? Shouldn't buyers take responsibility for not reading auctions properly?

  • Looks like the buyer is a new user and I doubt he will be paying.

It wouldn't surpise me if there was a bidding war for the box between non paying bidders.

Their fees are going to be extortionate.
  • The auctions should nort be scams and buyers should not have to assume they are.

  • We sold successfully on eBay for several years and buyers did not have to read between the lines of our auctions, or go over the wording with a fine tooth comb, they got precisely what they thought they were getting.

    We have 100% positive feedback.

It's people like the above that get honest e-Bayers a bad name.

  • I was especially annoyed as my DS sold for even less with a game a couple of hours earlier that day.

    I agree.

It is probably an auction wrecker.

Good for him/her if it is.

I doubt the item had that many genuine bidders.

It's good to see such auctions getting the treatment they deserve.
