I hope you mean the auction I have linked to and not me?!?!?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I understand what you are saying but is it really misleading if the information is there? Shouldn't buyers take responsibility for not reading auctions properly?

and be scammed for paying £8 delivery for an empty box! The seller wanted to scam somebody, yes the buyer should be more careful but the intention of the seller was to scam.

    That auction was definitely misleading..

£8.oo for postage of an empty box?
Receipt included in the sale..? (maybe it's intended for people who have a faulty pink DS and need to return it)?

If I were looking for a pink DS I'd definitely be asking this seller questions before bidding.

The receipt was included in the photo with the intention to mislead a buyer into believing they were getting the DS Lite. The seller had a disclaimer saying that the receipt is not part of the 'box'.
  • The starting price was £70!

    Clealy wanting to scam.

Has the sellers account been hacked?
1 negative feedback as a buyer [ambiguious!] and only ever sold 3 items [over the last 14 months]

Looks like suspicious account activity - which if they are not a regular user of ebay - may well go unnoticed.

    Last account activity/feedback received ... July 07

Also user ID changed on 13/12/07 ... ???? [bit of a dodgy 1 before that though].

Don't understand why a relativley light user of ebay with perfectly good understandable feedback would decide to junk his/her account with a senseless auctio which can only result in negative feedback/dispute/chargeback etc.

Can see a scenario where the account holder has perhaps replied to phishing email and now is perhaps not in control of the account.

    Just my thoughts.

ebay is slowly but surely decending into a chaotic mish-mash of dodgy sellers/dodgy scams/dodgy buyers ... all buying/selling an assortment of cr*p and tat that would most probably brighten the interior of any skip.
Becoming nearly impossible to use safely or with confidence.
Time something new came along - ebay couldn't give a monkeys as long as fees are generated.

*Having said all that the buyer wants a good shake as it only encourages this type of sharp practice.

In the case of this auction I think they did which is why the auction got wasted. Hope the seller pays every penny of his fees.
