Drama chez moi as teacup has the lurgy. An Ambulance Was Called. Teacup was better after being 'persuaded' to take her inhaler. Oxygen sats and temp were monitored and were ok. Ambulance cancelled phew although I imagine we were not a priority as 90 minutes had gone by 🤷
I am currently drinking tea and comfort sitting on a hot water bottle. I have to clear my room as otherwise I have nowhere to sleep/bang my head on the wall. Motivation is low. Ah well twill be done

Did you already paint an X on the wall so you knew just the right pressure point to bang?
Sorry there's so much drama. Glad it calmed down. Not easy dealing with sick relatives.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Lol SH think that's a brilliant idea 🤣🤣🤣
Once I dig my way out of all of my stuff I will have to locate the perfect spot.

Oh no, sounds like a nightmare evening! I hope things have calmed down now? This lurgy is evil.
Re your Dad, if he has upper body strength, you have more options but even if he hasn't it's worth looking at standing aids and transfer aids. Is there a physio or OT who might be able to advise or even get one? People often buy their own but they can be very expensive and aren't necessarily the best option, just the best advertised, IYSWIM. I know I worked briefly in an older people's home and they used standing aids all the time. Also as he's disabled I think you may be able to get VAT reduction.
Sorry - tired this morning and can't get my head together but definitely you need to look at things that take his weight and don't risk your back. If he's landing on the floor then that's another issue because getting people up - as you'll have noticed - isn't easy!
Here's to a better day today!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I don't know if it is the same in Ireland but I used to get my mother's slippers without the VAT charged. The online places that mostly do disabled type things actually ask if the person they are for should not be charged VAT.

We had a new tenant come to stay. Herbert the snail took up residence in the upstairs bathroom. I came in this morning to find snail poop had landed on the rim of the bath. I feel like this is a new low for our hygiene standards.
Figured out a way that dad can get to standing from the chair. Annoyingly after the OT had visited. And not quite in time to avoid poop on the kitchen floor 🤦♀️💩
He was up and walking with the gait belts I ordered. Thankfully with the carer and not me.
He went to sleep anyway and I started out for a walk only to encounter work lady coming to give me free pyrex type containers acquired with shopping points. Got a big hug from child 3 too. And then the dog decided to go home and I continued on my walk to the village. Ok to the charity shop. I did get a paint tester pot in the dark colour I used already. And a free tea in the garage with loyalty points.
Today was mostly supposed to be a rest and thinking day. So not much done in the way of progress. Meals were spaghetti with butter (I did have to use up the pasta). Made some developments in the walk in storage in my room and am now eating chicken nuggets and chips that I had forgot were in the oven.3 -
Sounds like you made a good decision with the gait belts. Sorry you had the rest to cope with though.
Free pyrex is nice, and so is free tea. I reckon you deserved them both.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Dad did seem to get the hang of the gait belt quite quickly. I think he likes having something to hold onto.
Heavy knocked on my door last night carrying Herbert the snail. He has taken him to a new home on a leaf and removed the poop. All without being asked!!!
So far this morning the carer has tripped over an ironing board. He was talking to himself saying remember there is stuff everywhere here. The mortification.
The ironing board is now on olio.
We do not iron. And if we did I will get a table top one.
I have a ton of clearing to do to day. I am undermotivated so currently planning a motivation walk (it may involve charity shop) and fresh air. Then it will be some sort of progress, somewhere in this house3 -
Yesterday did not go at all to plan.
Ok so there wasn't actually a plan at all but lets go with it.
I had my first ever ocular migraine and ended up in bed for the afternoon.
Entirely my own fault as the temperature has changed here and I am still wandering about dressed for winter. and not hydrating or eating enough. And accidentally going cold turkey on my antidepressant. I went into a weird version of special interest mode and couldn't sustain it.
Had some success getting up this morning so feel like I have made a start on house clearing. I am determined to get to a point where I feel like I have broken the back of it and not just going to end up with piles everywhere again.
I will be wearing shorts and a tshirt and carrying a water bottle at all times2 -
Migraine seems to be one of the special extra gifts that some of us rather higher up on the spectrum people get. Epilepsy is a less common one, then there's asthma and eczema for some. I'm just going by my own family and friends here. The autism started at my great grandmother and now fills the families of me, my sister, my cousins and all of our children like the letters in Blackpool rock. (UK seaside blackpool not Irish blackpool). Like attracts like and most of my friends are similar too or as the mother of one of my son's friend's said "When an autistic person finds another autistic person they clang together like magnets".
I hope that you feel better today but I often have a vague kind of hangover feeling the day after. I can match your house clearing today with my garden clearing. The brambles from the garden of the Beverly Hillbillies over the back are coming through under my fence so I need to cut those back. I also have a rhubarb problem. The rhubarb itself is quite happy but it's that big that it's stopping me from weeding at the back of the shed. I will not be wearing shorts as I don't want to frighten anyone 🤣3
