Well... it started out as building a fort with the couch. The couch was moved only to discover a landfill underneath it. I attempted to sweep up a mixture of food, pine needles, toys and a small boy. The small boy objected to this and after fortifying himself with Under The Couch Ferrero Rocher, attacked. I was left with no choice but to defend myself with the Sword of Destruction (aka the sweeping brush). Small boy weaponised with some long green thing and a battle commenced. Middle child armed herself with a snapping bracelet and devil child hid herself in the blanket box (?).
Battle of Random Household Implements began at approximately 2.30 pm. It was ongoing when the Voice of Reason (aka Mother) stuck her head around the barricades to say it was time for me to leave. At which point devil child had punched middle child in the throat and was in timeout (stuck her head in the cushions).
Small boy attempted to continue the battle by himself (likes to flog a dead horse that one) and devil child burst into tears and said I was mean to her. I removed the barricades and escaped leaving carnage behind me.

I think teacup has been possessed. She has voluntarily gotten dad up in the morning.
Oh wait no she has come and accused me of wanton printer use, all is normal.
The home care fairies have been working behind the scenes and we have been offered two mornings a week by the Alzheimer's society. I just have to fill out 7 forms, make sure that none if the appliances are going to explode and hope that whoever turns up is more sentient than a pot plant.
I want to buy a pot plant now.

Yay to the two mornings - get the right people in and put pressure on for another five days and all will be somewhat easier. The right people are key and so is their willingness to earn from you on what works with your Dad.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well I will need something to fall back on Cherry- I played throw the marble at the bum bum today. Thankfully small people can't throw very hard or I would be making an embarrassing trip to A and E and answering some awkward questions from social workers.
The worse thing was it was my idea
We shall see. Their forms are certainly more thorough. And by thorough I mean my brain has been violated.2 -
Apparently there are 666 posts on this thread so let us remedy that tout suite. I do not need any visitations from the devil. I have home care agencies for that.
Money wise I have a pile of toys when nephew visits for the princely sum of 1 euro. The majority of them came from Olio so he can throw them/put them in his mouth to his heart's content.
This morning while Teacup was potentially possessed I ran out to the supermarket to obtain a coffee eclair. In my head I was in Paris, popping out to the local boulangerie for a pastry breakfast.
In reality I was in Tesco looking for anusol. And a coffee eclair. The two are not related.
I have been reading more self help books because that is what I like to do. And I have come across a lovely metric- the flourishing ratio of five positive events to one negative one. So far, I have not quite made it to five. But my lonely positive thought for this week is- without the experience of the past year, I would have taken it for granted that dementia was the cause of all my Dad's issues. Even something as ridiculous as his bed being changed affected him so badly that he didn't sleep for months. I can't imagine what a care home would have done. Well I can, thanks to the ryanair of respite homes. Who have sent me the results of their 'investigation' by the by. I was tempted to issue a scathing response but I have no brain left after filling in 5 of the 7 forms so that will be a fun job for tomorrow. After the new carer turns up for an hour which I have to admit I am dreading. I absolutely loathe people politics, carers who don't have a clue, agencies that you can give feedback to cos they get all huffy, the loud round women that populate home and nursing care...

I hope you get a positive experience with home care as it can be very hit and miss at times. But a good carer can make the world of difference.
You seem to spend a lot of money on treats and things for your dad, does he not have his own money to pay for things? I know you said your mum is very frugal but maybe a chat with her is needed.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
*Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
*Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00
Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00
Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
*Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*
Savings
*Savings Buffer - £100/£1500

It really is hit or miss. Some of the people who turn up really make you wonder.
Most of it is his or their money I'm spending SWL. I have a credit card that is paid by their combined income not mine. I do occasionally pay for coffee etc if I'm out and I've forgotten it or didn't bring a bag.

I too think you have a way with words. I love the weaponising kids description.
I played nerf ball with my little niece and nephews tonight and had a whale of a time. You are making memories with those kids so don't sell yourself short.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
